Totally unlike Countdown material. Saying she looked like a prostitute. Complete garbage. I despise Vitter's wife, but how she was dressed is a stupid criticism.

1. she was not exactly dressed as a "Family Values Mom"
but what I think she should be slammed for is her hypocrisy - she ripped HRC apart for 'pulling a Tammy Wynette' and said that if it ever happened to HER she would be more like Loreena Bobbitt.... Her whining about reporters camped out at home and at her church last night leave her WIDE open to any criticism - including criticism of her very inappropriate and unfortunate choice of attire.

2. Agreed
But it seems par for the course.

They comment on duh-bya's wife's clothes, HRC's outfits, Pelosi, etc.

Notice how they almost never comment on what the men are wearing?

20. disagree
Who hasn't heard jokes about male politician's hair or lack thereof? Do you think if Joe Biden (or any other male candidate) came out with a shirt unbuttoned to his belly, and sporting gold chains like he's going through a mid-life crisis, the media wouldn't comment?

21. Not the same
Everytime a female poltician, celebrity, etc is seen the first or second thing the media comments on is their dress or their hairstyle.

Your example is an extreme case where he looks drunk.

For HRC, Pelosi and others it's a constant drumbeat.
I don't know what you were watching when Pelosi was elected Speaker, but almost everything I read began with a comment on her wardrobe.
Hilary same thing.

shows up to plead for her summer and her churchgoing in a cheap animal print creation...

4. Women just can't win on this issue. And many don' t know how to dress appropriately.
The constant pressure to look unique or sexy makes women do stupid things with their clothes. Men don't care what they wear!

7. I see no discredit in it.
A lot of people's looks and dress get analyzed on Countdown, not just the women.

As for the unfortunate Mrs. Vitter, it could always have been worse. She could have chosen to wear a plain white cotton wrap dress secured at the neckline with a giant safety pin.

16. Mrs. Vitter complained about the Media.
That was real stupid of her to do. The Media favors Rethugs so her castigation invites more Media to cover this sordid situation. She is not too bright.

18. I agree.
C'mon y'all her outfit wasn't THAT bad. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually thought she looked great yesterday. Hey at least she wasn't wearing a dowdy pantsuit.

Vitter's wife deserves criticism for her own hypocrisy and the shit she spewed yesterday. She was dressed fine.

19. For the Record
Her dress did not have a leopard print, nor was it a snake skin print. It was some weird flower design.

Not sure how this is a slutty dress. Seems to me like a typical upper-middle class housewife wrap dress.

22. Trouble is, it reads as an animal print on TV
(even a snakeskin pattern, possibly) and thus was probably not the best choice.

When you know you're going to be on TV, it's wise to dress for TV.

24. Yes, I know
Just the same, while I find Mrs. Vitter to be a hateful hypocrite, I hardly think her dress made her look like a lady of the evening. The fashions right now are a repeat of styles from the late seventies. If you recall, that was the height of the polyester era. There's no such thing as classy polyester.

26. It was very odd hearing Alison describe it
She was talking with contempt about the plunging V neckline - saying this as she herself was wearing a plunging V neckline.

I guess only those other women look like "whores" with that neckline. Alison's neckline was low enough to expose some massive hypocrisy of her own.

"Whores" is in quotes there, because the entire concept is so stupid and offensive I can't even type it without some snark. The concept that if a woman dresses a certain way, she must be selling her body or having sex with multiple men, is offensive beyond belief. I saw it in the Maria Schriver funeral threads as well, where it was said in regards to a freaking pair of shoes.

Repeating the meme of the "f" me shoes, or in this case, acting like there is such a thing as an "f" me dress, is related to the notion that some women are raped because they asked for it, by the way they dressed.
