Geneologists: Can decendants of Canadians get dual citizenship like Irish Law?
Mt grandmother was born in Ontario.

I just heard someone on Malloy whose Grandparent was born in Ireland
and he was able to easily get duel citizenship

Anyone know if that's true with Canada?

2. I don't think it's a problem here
We don't require exclusive loyalty oaths.

11. Zell?
I think he's already had his brains blown out.

That's why he was invited to be the keynote speaker at the GOP convention.

13. Irish citizenship
You can get Irish citizenship if one of your Grandparents was
born in Ireland. They dropped the great Grandparents some time
ago.

15. I am applying for Irish citizenship with an Irish grandmother
Canada does NOT accept citizenship applications through a grandparent. Sorry about that (since my grandfather was Canadian I actually looked into it). I was hoping to apply for Canadian citizenhip but that avenue is closed.

Actually very few countries still allow citizenship applications through a grandparent - the rules and regs are MUCH tougher and most require parental citizenship to even apply (and even then, many are turned down).

19. Not that I know of. I looked into it for hubby whose Mum was Canadian. Oddly
his brother was younger enough to qualify because of some law that passed.

21. Well, this probably isn't helpful to you at this stage...
but I have dual British/Canadian citizenship, despite being born and brought up in Britain, because my Canadian father went there and registered me when I was a baby.

23. Would you take the Canadian citizenship oath?
The Oath must be recited by all citizenship recipients in Canada over the age of fourteen years. It is as follows:

I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfill my duties as a Canadian citizen.
