4. Harkin sounds like a DEM to me, much better than Coburn >cough
At present I listened to most of the comments made by my friend from Oklahoma and i think he asked some good questions things we have to consider what will happen when we leave. sen talked about moral obligations we have. i wonder what moral obligations we had back in teh 1980s when then-rumsfeld visited hussein. what resp. did we have when we supported hussein GAVE HIM WEAPONS AND INFO in war against iran. what was our obligation that time.

and then we hear about what will happen when we leave. bloodbath. i can remember vietnam, and i can remember the same things. 'oh if we leave vietnam, fight then there, fight them here. phillipines next. stop them there. if we leave bloodbath. all of the people who supporters us will be slaughtered in teh streets.'

well, didn't happen. here today in vietnam we have diplomatic relations. (blah blah) cruise ships now dock in saigon, americans take cruise ships over there. visit vietnam go to beaches. look back, think about 50,000+ Americans who died over there and you wonder what was that all about. what was that moral obligation all about.

so again we have to learn from the past, we know the spectre is always raised. big calamities will happen if we don't follow what the president wants. well, the president's not often right. this president and his colleagues here couldn't be more wrong about our course in iraq.

so i have come to teh floor on behalf of iowans (calling, emailing) overwhelming against war in iraw as have americans elsewhere -- 71% favor removing all troops from iraq by april 1 of next year.) the American troops are sick of seeing our brave men and women killed in what has increasingly become a civil war in iraq. they want to chart a new path out.

Now he's going to read the whole Defense Appropriations bill. He says that is what this is about. He says that we should be concerned about passing this bill. He says that it will help arm and protect our soldiers. Will someone ask him why they still don't have enough body armor or armored HumVees? He says this is about good and evil and Al Queda. They still don't have the right equipment, asshole.

Yeah well duh, dude. If we had concentrated our efforts, troops and money in AFGHANISTAN and done OBL and his ilk in, we wouldn't have resurgent Taleban, OBL wouldn't have escaped from Tora Bora, and relocated in Pakistan.

Oh, sorry-he just said that his support for the war is NOT open-ended. And he is just reading from his talking points crib sheet.
