I can probably cite half a dozen reasons why Hillary isn't my first choice as Democratic nominee. I won't. They've been debated ad nauseum around here and, frankly, what would be the point?
It seems to me that the strongest criticism aimed at Obama from this direction is his lack of experience. Looked at one way, that's not necessarily a bad thing. He'd be bringing something new to the table as far as a fresh perspective. Assuming he chose his advisors correctly, he could really turn out well.
Edwards is my favorite of the front runners, but he's not doing so good. I don't know why. Maybe it's because he seems too slick to some people. He seems, to me, to be sincere in his wish to alleviate poverty in this country, and to strengthen the middle class in the process. Certainly a worthwhile cause.
Kucinich is, as they say, sucking hind tit. I think he's got a lot of good thoughts, but he hasn't managed to make any kind of connection with those answering the polls, for what that's worth.
I don't know much about Richardson, who's apparently poised to unseat Edwards from third place but, you know, it doesn't really matter.
If either of the two front-runners get the nod, and fight their way past the arguably pathetic crop of Republican hopefuls, it's going to be a watershed moment for the United States Presidency. A woman or a mixed-race President.
Okay, I realize that both of them are pretty Centrist, damn near Republican Lite. Or, at least, that's what we're seeing out of them at this juncture, simply because part of the whole thing is trying to appear as universally acceptable as possible.
We can hope, anyway.
As far as Edwards being slick. Well, the Big Dawg is slick. REALLY slick. But he has a way about him that transcends that. For most folks, anyway.
I can't help but feel that if everything goes the way it's looking, any one of the most likely candidates can run and win, and America will be better for it.
That's why I don't get embroiled in the tooth-and-nail candidate debates that sweep through here on a regular basis. At this point all I really care about is getting the FUCK out of Krazy Klown Town. I don't really give a damn who's driving the bus.
