Especially when many of them have said privately that they need to provide political cover to the White House until September and will likely switch up their votes then anyhow (information on Countdown tonight).

So they're staying up all hours of the night to fight for the right of having soldiers die for an extra two months.

Murdering bastards.

1. Well, apparently they promised Karl Rove they would cover for the precious Baby Bush a while longer
And that is sooooooooooo much more important than doing the right thing.

I hope some newspapers pick up Shuster's report from Countdown.

2. they are not standing up
they are sitting on the fence to avoid going on the record as being for/against

it's about protecting their asses. If they vote to stay in Iraq, and the September report shows no significant progress - they risk being tarred as a chicken hawk.

If they vote to pull out of Iraq, and the September report shows significant progress - they risk being tarred as a cut'n runner by an opponent.

so they prefer to sit on the fence and risk getting hemorrhoids

5. DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO UNSEAT THEM

TAKE NAMES AND SPREAD THEM IN EVERY BLOG YOU CAN;ESPECIALLY THE STATE BLOGS. YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THIS STALL IS COSTING LIVES.
BUT 5 YEARS TO MAKE EVEN A MINOR CHANGE IN THE EFFORT (ESP WHEN BRITAIN PULLED OUT 40,000 TROOPS) SHOWS HOW INCOMPETENT AND UNTRUSTWORTHY THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS BECOME!

6. These republicans have been bought and paid for by defense contractors
They have to have a war to keep the gravy train running.

They can't let those rich defense contractors run short of taxpayer dollars.

What would Halliburton do is it could not get a few more no-bid contracts to build things in Iraq that get blown up as soon as they are finished?

7. Any member who said that
they would switch their vote come September, was ... get ready for this, LYING. It's what they do. By September they will have rolled out their new and improved product, (outrage) so any promised vote switching will have become moot.

8. I wish I could get a copy of David Shuster's comments on Countdown tonight.
Whether or not they are providing Bush with political cover doesn't really matter. By them telling other Senators that they have essentially admitted to the murder of two months' worth of American troops and Iraqi civilians.
