Officers cleared in death of woman at troubled L.A. hospital

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Two police officers who arrested a woman yelling in pain at an emergency room shortly before she died won't face criminal charges, authorities said.

The two Los Angeles County officers acted in a "compassionate and professional manner" in their arrest of Edith Isabel Rodriguez on a warrant, Deputy District Attorney Susan Schwartz wrote Monday to the county Sheriff's Department.

The officers were "faced with the nursing staff's refusal to render medical care" and decided the woman would receive it in jail, Schwartz wrote.

2. What needs to be torn into is the triage policy and its implementation

The medical staff might have been dreadfully indifferent, but they might also have been following policy guidelines.

I suspect there is nothing or next to nothing that the physical structure of the building contributed to the mistake made inside it.
