Sixty million fucking times bush said that we are fighting 'the enemy' over there so we don't have to face him on our streets. Now the department of homeland terror says al qaeda is about to hit us hard. Again. So basically the whole war on al qaeda and terror has been a monumental, monstrous, horrible, ghastly failure.

Why is no one saying this anywhere?

2. The key to understanding this administration: Political expediency
Bush et al say whatever is politically expedient at that particular moment.

Whatever he and others have said in the past is now part of the historical document and as such should no longer have any bearing on the circumstances we now face. He's moved on.

Al Qaeda is at the door and it's too late to point fingers and try to play the "blame game." We can discuss the fact that we're fighting them here as soon as we're victorious in fighting them over there.

Why worry? Another few billion paid out to good guys like Halliburton and Blackwater will ensure our safety here.

3. And that's the Democrats fault...
... don't forget that - Bush never makes a mistake that isn't really because of queasy liberals not backing him 110 percent.

16. Yes, but, but, but...
That's in Pakistan, and it's all Musharraf's fault! A failure in Pakistan is Way Over There (pay no attention to us, just to the man behind the curtain, Musharraf) and Iraq is Over There and Where It's At. That's what's important, even bin Laden knows that! :sarcasm:

The bleak intelligence assessment was made public in the middle of a bitter Congressional debate about the future of American policy in Iraq. White House officials said it bolstered the Bush administration’s argument that Iraq was the “central front” in the war on terror, because that was where Qaeda operatives were directly attacking American forces.

-snip-

At the White House, Ms. Townsend found herself in the uncomfortable position of explaining why American military action was focused in Iraq when the report concluded that main threat of terror attacks that could be carried out in the United States emanated from the tribal areas of Pakistan.

She argued that it was Mr. bin Laden, as well as the White House, who regarded “Iraq as the central front in the war on terror.”

5. I guess the "terrorists" didn't get the memo
that they're not supposed to attack us here while we're fighting them over there. But it's funny how they always serve the political needs of the administration. I guess repubs like their terrorists to be reliable.

12. Yup, but...
Remember, if the GOP is to regain power, there must be another major attack on the United States so they can butch it up for the cameras. If the terrorists do not strike again, the Republican Party will be up a river of solid waste with insufficient means of locomotion.

13. Global war on terror = COMPLETE FAILURE
we have thrown BILLIONS of dollars and thousands of lives down the fucking toilet, and we're no safer than we were before, in fact we're less safe, from the dreaded Al Quaeda. Al Qaeda is learning every day about new techniques for fighting our military forces, and they are now exporting them to Afghanistan, where defeat has been snatched from the jaws of victory. Our foreign policy is in shreds, and nobody is helping us. In fact, pretty much the whole country is in shreds.

15. I STILL never understood how they'd "come over here".
Assuming they'd get past an ocean, tons of heightened security on both shores, FBI/CIA surveillance (you know, assuming they'd keep their eyes on THEM and not law abiding Americans), terrorist watch lists, local police, wire tapping (see "surveillance", above), etc.

If anyone says "local cells", then haven't we flat out dropped the ball, as well as an asston of tax dollars?

22. You're not thinking like them. Here's the logic:
If we weren't fighting them over there, Al Qaeda would be even stronger and we'd have been hit at least 10 times already since 9/11, probably even with a nuke, or Al Qaeda would have even taken over the US by now; so see how well things are going and if we get hit once every six years, what's the big deal??
