76. Yes, that's why I have serious doubts about the results...
If I could vote twice (as I did), I have no problems imagining obcessed freeps in their mom's basement doing the "refresh, vote, refresh" cycle over 'n over for hours...

That's all they're good at... (don't ever ask them to "volunteer" for their lil' criminal king's illegal war(s)...). :cry:

17. Gotta agree with that assessment...Climate Alarmists is appropriate
I mean, when your apartment is burning down and you call for help from the fire department you're a 'Fire Alarmists"

When your hosue is being robbed and you call for help you're a "Robbery Alarmist"

When you're sick with a serious illness and you go to a doctor you're a "Medical Alarmist"

Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 05:07 AM by Aya Reiko
Picked "Didn't follow the event" 'cause... I didn't.

Sorry , but none of the artists really interested me.

However, I doubt this poll is really "Freeped". With 10K+ votes, I don't think any little group is that well organized to distort the poll.

Loose translation, Al's got his work cut out for him.

41. I say only vote if you are going to then tell the world what you are doing in response to Live Earth
Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 06:32 AM by RestoreGore
Anyone can vote on a poll, and this supposed BS freepering (which really can't be proven one way or the other on the whole thanks to the segment of this population that really is too distracted by bs to care) and then just voting to counter it solves nothing. And who knows, maybe some "draft" people who act like freepers also voted it flopped as they would love nothing better than to see that happen because they don't want Mr. Gore to have any successful endeavors out here. They must or they wouldn't have flown a C02 pollution spewing plane over the stadium during the concert like the freepers did. So again, polls mean absolutely nothing on the Internet. It is sad actually that this is what it has come down to... People still politically bickering over it, especially when the many people in developing countries feeling the effects of our excessive lifestyles don't even have computers or electricity to watch these concerts or the tools to fight the climate crisis effectively! That is what our focus should be on now, not some poll that gauges nothing but political animosity.

I wish they had actually given the choice that it is still too soon to tell, but I guess that would be too logical. And it wasn't just about the artists, it was a worldwide event that included all of us. I personally while being totally uplifted by the event as I wrote about here am really very disappointed so far in the outcome. It seems even here it doesn't get seriously spoken about except now to "du" a poll, but not about it in terms of how it actually is moving people to change their own lives and spread that change to others. I'm not even voting in it. I say, let our ACTIONS now speak louder than any poll, unless of course "freeping" and "DUing" polls is all anyone really wants to do now because it is so much easier than actually doing something concrete to really address this crisis.

And so now political elements will be basing all of environmentalism and its effect on one concert, when it was only the launch of a three year plan that is just getting started. Sounds about right in mentality for this country. http://www.tree-nation.com/community/petition.php?id=25 This however, proves that people in all countries DO CARE and are willing to pledge to be climate messengers in order to plant trees. But who cares about that, right?

44. From Al Gore
Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 06:34 AM by RestoreGore
Dear Jan,

Sign the Live Earth Pledge. Then email five of your friends and ask them to sign the pledge by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

A decade from now, when people look back on Live Earth, what they will remember isn't what happened during the show - instead my hope is they remember what happened after. More than 2 billion of us joined together on 7.7.07, and with one voice, demanded an end to the climate crisis. We now have the responsibility to carry this movement forward and force our leaders to take action.

The first step is to make sure every single person possible joins us. If you haven't already, please sign the Live Earth Pledge. Then email five of your friends and ask them to sign the pledge by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

All of the actions we take from here on out to solve the climate crisis will be based on a simple premise: our home, Earth, is in danger. We don't risk destroying the planet, but instead risk making it inhospitable for human beings.

We have put so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that we have changed the heat balance between Earth and the Sun. If we don't stop soon, the average temperature will increase to levels that will end the favorable climate balance on which our civilization depends.

Throughout most of our short history, the United States and the American people have provided moral leadership for the world. Establishing the Bill of Rights, framing democracy in the Constitution, defeating Fascism in World War II, toppling Communism, and landing on the moon - all were the result of American leadership.

Once again, Americans must come together and direct our government to take on a global challenge. Our leadership is a precondition for success.

We need to demonstrate that we have reached the tipping point where political will demands our representatives take action to solve the climate crisis. That's why it's so vital that millions of Americans sign the Live Earth Pledge.

Sign the Live Earth Pledge today by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

The climate crisis offers us the chance to experience what few generations in history have had the privilege of experiencing: a mission; a compelling moral purpose; a shared cause; and the thrill of being forced by circumstances to put aside the pettiness and conflict of politics and to embrace a genuine moral and spiritual challenge.

Please email five of your friends right now. Ask them to join us in this cause and sign the Live Earth Pledge today by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

Our work begins now.

Thank you,

Al Gore
~~~~~~
Therefore, if you voted in this poll just to get back at a "freeper" but don't sign the pledge your vote means about as much as theirs does. Mr. Gore's message is more improtant than any poll, and I really am disappointed Live Earth would even put one up just knowing what it would bring. It isn't about polls or even whether or not you like Al Gore, it's about taking action now to save ours and other species from extinction and getting beyond all of this political bs. So to anyone lurking who only trashed this just because they hate Al Gore just to get a response, f&&& you, you ignorant ass. THIS ISN'T ABOUT YOU.
42. Already voted, but...
Doing a bit of digging... I think I have an idea why this poll is faring badly...
The US and UK telecasts... flopped. In the US, it had fewer viewers ABC (Monsters, Inc.) and CBS (48 Hrs). It also had less viewers than the Diana Tribute telecast the aired the week before. Why did it flop, again I think I know why. Much like the reason I didn't bother to watch, the bands and artists they had for this sucked. At best, they had people who were popular 5 years ago. And that's being kind.
And from what I gather, the Japanese shrugged off the event. Though I have a feeling why. Looking at who performed at the Japanese concerts, one thought came to mind... "Where the hell are the Japanese artists?"
Now that I think of it...
I think the high "grandstanding" number comes from backlash from people who thought the concert sucked. And if the people aren't into the music, they sure as hell are not into the message.
47. That might be more accureate than you think
Actually talking to people about this event afterwards many did not even know about it. Unless you frequent sites on the Internet that talked about it or were on Al Gore's mail listing or on Live Earth, you wouldn't have known about it. And while freepers definitely do have a part in this, I also think people probably are voting this way as well thanks to the braninwashing done by draft groups and the media that have firmly inplanted the idea in many peoples' heads that this concert was merely nothing more than a stealth political rally, which is why I place no credence in it either way. Freepers yes, I am sure have an influence on this poll because they don't have the brain cells to do anything else but vote in polls, but I see it out here as well that people on the whole did not even know this concert was taking place unless someone who did told them about it, and if they did, many only had the impression again that it was a political rally for Al Gore. Which is why I am very upset at draft groups that couldn't even back off for that one day to allow the real message behind this to get out. And of course, not even a week after the concert they deliver some "Internet" petition to push him some more instead of delivering a petition that says they support his efforts and plans and are willing to help him regardless of where he decides to carry them out. So you can blame freepers in part, but it isn't all them in reality when you see the other elements at work including this media brainwashing people about political motives.
as an old punk who has been doing this shit for years it is great to see everybody jump on the bandwagon. Even my local government has introduced large scale recycling and they were in the bottom three of all the local authorities in England and Wales. Miracles will never cease.
I am still trying to figure out ways of getting my carbon footprint down. I have had carbon audits occasionaly and found out that I was way, way below average even with non-renewable sources for power.
The actions my whole community could take would slash the amount of energy we use. There just needs to be the political will.
79. But have you taken a look at the responses on the site?
I was sick when I saw what was being posted - highly freeped. I think that Mr. Gore and the climate crisis is much more of a threat to the RW wingnuts than I had previously thought.
But I do think this sort of thing takes a while to saturate - I had mentioned to you in one post that there were people I met the next day who had had no idea it was happening. One of them came back and asked me more about it and we have had a few discussions on the topic of reducing carbon footprints etc. in the 10 days since. Talked with another person who brought it up to me - that was a welcome change!
64. Voted but this poll is divisive.
Two positive options, One negative, One neutral.
Splitting the positive responders is totally bogus.
68. Well, hell, they split the "pro" response into two and then have ONE "con" response.
Of course, the con response is going to have "more".
Lying with statistics . . .
82. "climate alarmists"?
I hope in 20 years they remember every word they said. I have ZERO respect for people who talk that way from now on.
