Al Sharpton Won't Oppose Imus Comeback
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070718/ap_on_en_tv/people_imus_sharpton

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who urged the Imus' firing, wouldn't object if the radio personality returned to the airwaves. "He has a right to make a living," he said in a telephone interview Wednesday.

Sharpton said he hadn't softened his views about Imus, who was dismissed from his syndicated program (simulcast on MSNBC) in April for calling the Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos." But he added that, under the right conditions, the radio star's banishment could eventually end.

Sharpton said he hoped that any broadcast outlet that hired Imus would take steps to ensure that he wouldn't return to a brand of humor that included race- and gender-based insults.

"We had never asked him to never work again," he said, echoing comments he first made to Radar magazine.

WTF? So after a few months off the air Sharpton suddenly thinks that Imus is no longer a racist, unfunny idiot? This makes me question the motives behind Sharpton's calls for Imus's resignation (or firing, whichever it was). This makes it seem as though it was more about getting himself in front of a camera than seeking consequences for Imus's actions.

2. You expected something else?

When is his motive NOT tied into him getting camera exposure?

4. "make a living"? The man's a multi-millionaire, not a janitor
He has more money than most us could see in 5 lifetimes.

I could invent 50 things to do with myself if I had that much money.

5. Sharpton is a two-faced piece of crap.
This is typical of him, not unusual. All the time he was leading demonstrations in NYC years ago it was found out that he was an FBI informer! He will worm and scheme to be on both sides.
