24%: the latest in a string of new lows for Little Boots.
Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 06:46 AM by teamster633
I heard this morning on a local station that the most recent University of New Hampshire poll for CNN has the chimperor's approval rating at 24%.

***I should add that this was not a national, but a state-wide poll. Still, New Hampshire isn't exactly a liberal bastion, so the results are still very encouraging.

12. Remember that land in Argentina they were looking at last year?
I really do think that's where Bush and many members of his family will reside. Let's face it, the next President, whether Republican or Democrat, is going to inherit a godawful mess and they're not going to be inclined to provide cover for the last administration. The next administration is going to make public a lot of things that have been hidden for the last six years, and when that happens, I honestly think that Bush and his family won't be safe staying in America.

13. This is why I am concerned Bush and Cheney will not leave.
The next administration is going to make public a lot of things that have been hidden for the last six years

The Dick won't want this to happen. If we have another LIHOP/MIHOP attack, or if we foolishly invade Iran, it might be "necessary" to simply cancel the '08 election.

15. I don't think that will happen...
It would require the willing participation of the military and the intelligence community, and I don't think they support this administration any more.

3. Lou Dobbs last night had it at 34% ...
but they added the "Poor" and "Not Good" percentages together to get that number.

5. yeah, that's the ticket
I want to be president. I know when I start out they'll say "he sucks; he's awful; I hate him"

But over eight years I think I can improve to "not quite as horrible as he used to be!"

That is my goal in life.

10. Well, I hate to say this, but....
...New Hampshire is a state that elected Meldrim Thompson governor-three times! A man who was so deranged that he thought the National Guard should have nuclear weapons. This is a state that elected John Sununu governor-three times! And yes, that is the same John Sununu who had to resign during the reign of King George I. So if the chimp can only muster a 24% approval rating here, I think it speaks volumes.

17. way disturbing
of course, we don't get to observe the polling.

i mean, do they find a drunk in the gutter, kick him awake and say "hows bush doing? and get a mumbled "ok, I guess?"

maybe, when you think about it, it is not all that surprising. probably 1 it 4 don't even know who is president

7. I saw a PR about a poll last week and I wonder about these numbers.

I'm starting to wonder about the polls.

http://www.lynnernet.com/collette/semantics/

Scrutiny of poll’s data gives Bush approval rating of 43%, not 26%: LYAAR
...The question was, “How would you rate the job (READ ITEM) are/is doing - excellent, pretty good, only fair, or poor?”

Responses for
Pres. George W. Bush:
05 % Excellent
21 % Pretty Good
27 % Only Fair
46 % Poor

Harris derived its approval rating by counting only “Excellent” and “Pretty Good” as positive.

I question why Harris would count a response of “Only Fair” as negative.

Out of 1,003 people, 532 of them told a complete stranger on the telephone that they figured President Bush was doing an OK job, or better. In their day-to-day lives, Americans typically don’t disapprove of a fellow doing OK at his job.

532 of 1,003 comes to 53%. Isn’t that the margin that President Bush got elected by?

The Lynnertic Adjusted Approval Rating (LYAAR) for George W. Bush is a much more realistic 43%.

Of George W. Bush’s
job performance:
26 % Actively Approve
28 % No opinion
46 % Actively Disapprove

Ratio of people who
actually care about it:
261 pro : 461 con
43% pro : 57% con

In calculating the LYAAR, wimpy answers like “Only Fair” are declared to be equivalent to “I Don’t Care”.

We are left to compare the ratio of approving and disapproving respondents, who –admit it– are more likely to influence national politics by becoming involved in the democratic process.

If you find yourself unhappy at the news that George W. Bush’s standing is “misunderestimated”, I encourage you to follow the Freewayblogger’s example, and find ingenious, uplifting, legal measures to enlighten those 28-Percenters whose opinions could swing either way.

It's full and total BS to make his backwash supporters feel better about themselves.

14. HEY I came up with that number myself
and it wasn't to make bush supporters feel better. It's because I looked at data and thought for myself.

What do you think "OK" means? Good or bad? Don't you think it's a little skewey to say that "OK" is "bad?"

Honestly, I was wondering how to bring the number DOWN from 53%, because to me "OK" is tacit approval. It was a little sarcastic too (I like my acronym).
