The Live Earth Site Has Much To Learn...

About Internet trolls and those on all political sides of the aisle when expecting an accurate accounting of anything on the Internet. Now freepers supposedly "freeped" this poll and "duers" have to come back at it. But really, is there any substance to that? Not hardly to me, and that is unfair to those who do want to see a real difference and get beyond this petty political tit for tat. The time for polls is over, it is time for action.

Anyone can vote in a poll, and this supposed BS freepering (which really can't be proven one way or the other on the whole thanks to the segment of this population that really is too distracted by bs to care) and then just voting to counter it solves nothing. And who knows, maybe some "draft" people who act like freepers with their one track divisive pushing also voted it flopped as they would love nothing better than to see that happen because they don't want Mr. Gore to have any successful endeavors out here to throw a monkey wrench into their plans. They must feel that way or they wouldn't have flown a C02 pollution spewing plane over the stadium during the concert like the freepers did. So again, polls mean absolutely nothing on the Internet.

It is sad actually that this is what it has come down to... People still politically bickering over the concert, especially when the many people in developing countries feeling the effects of our excessive lifestyles don't even have computers or electricity to watch these concerts or the tools to fight the climate crisis effectively! That is what our focus should be on now, not some poll that gauges nothing but political animosity.

I wish they had actually given the choice that it is still too soon to tell, but I guess that would be too logical. And it wasn't just about the artists, it was a worldwide event that included all of us. I personally while being totally uplifted by the event as I wrote about here am really very disappointed so far in the outcome. It seems even here it doesn't get seriously spoken about except now to "du" a poll, but not about it in terms of how it actually is moving people to change their own lives and spread that change to others. I'm not even voting in it. I say, let our ACTIONS now speak louder than any poll, unless of course "freeping" and "DUing" polls is all anyone really wants to do now because it is so much easier than actually doing something concrete to really address this crisis.

And so now political elements will be basing all of environmentalism and its effect on one concert, when it was only the launch of a three year plan that is just getting started. Sounds about right in mentality for this country. This however, proves that people in all countries DO CARE and are willing to pledge to be climate messengers in order to plant trees. But who cares about that, right?

From Al Gore:

Dear Jan,

Sign the Live Earth Pledge. Then email five of your friends and ask them to sign the pledge by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

A decade from now, when people look back on Live Earth, what they will remember isn't what happened during the show - instead my hope is they remember what happened after. More than 2 billion of us joined together on 7.7.07, and with one voice, demanded an end to the climate crisis. We now have the responsibility to carry this movement forward and force our leaders to take action.

The first step is to make sure every single person possible joins us. If you haven't already, please sign the Live Earth Pledge. Then email five of your friends and ask them to sign the pledge by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

All of the actions we take from here on out to solve the climate crisis will be based on a simple premise: our home, Earth, is in danger. We don't risk destroying the planet, but instead risk making it inhospitable for human beings.

We have put so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that we have changed the heat balance between Earth and the Sun. If we don't stop soon, the average temperature will increase to levels that will end the favorable climate balance on which our civilization depends.

Throughout most of our short history, the United States and the American people have provided moral leadership for the world. Establishing the Bill of Rights, framing democracy in the Constitution, defeating Fascism in World War II, toppling Communism, and landing on the moon - all were the result of American leadership.

Once again, Americans must come together and direct our government to take on a global challenge. Our leadership is a precondition for success.

We need to demonstrate that we have reached the tipping point where political will demands our representatives take action to solve the climate crisis. That's why it's so vital that millions of Americans sign the Live Earth Pledge.

Sign the Live Earth Pledge today by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

The climate crisis offers us the chance to experience what few generations in history have had the privilege of experiencing: a mission; a compelling moral purpose; a shared cause; and the thrill of being forced by circumstances to put aside the pettiness and conflict of politics and to embrace a genuine moral and spiritual challenge.

Please email five of your friends right now. Ask them to join us in this cause and sign the Live Earth Pledge today by visiting:

http://algore.com/pledge

Our work begins now.

Thank you,

Al Gore
~~~~~~
Therefore, if you voted in this poll just to get back at a "freeper" but don't sign the pledge your vote means about as much as theirs does. Mr. Gore's message is more important than any poll, and I really am disappointed Live Earth would even put one up just knowing what it would bring. It isn't about polls or even whether or not you like Al Gore, it's about taking action now to save ours and other species from extinction and getting beyond all of this political bs. So to anyone lurking who only trashed this just because they hate Al Gore just to get a response, f&&& you, you ignorant ass. THIS ISN'T ABOUT YOU.
1. Thank you for this post..
I have taken the pledge..and emailed 5 friends to take the pledge.
Since the Live Earth show, I have changed all of my lamps & ceiling fixture bulbs to compact fluorescents, I tried to change the ceiling fans bulbs...but they didn't work very well, since the fans have a dimmer switch..so I put efficient Halogen bulbs in them instead of regular incandecents..
I've caught myself turning lights off in rooms when I leave them...my Wife & I have unplugged our cell phone chargers when they're not in use...I've started using paper towels & paper plates more than once..if possible.
The education that Live Earth brought to me has inspired me to change some of the things that I can, to help..I have been teaching my 4 yr old daughter to conserve as well...
we plan on getting new efficient windows for the house soon, hopefully before Autumn...if not, definitely next Spring.
This is what we should be posting about! Good for you. I have been talking to people and hopefully carrying on the message of this concert. It isn't over by a long shot, and talk of it in context to this "poll" is only mucking up progress. Bogging ourselves down in even more political back and forth will not solve this now, only taking action will and will trump any poll. Thank you again for all you are doing. Just one edit though. You wrote you are using paper plates and towels now? Actualy, that isn't as good as using regular plates that you don't need to throw out. We need to save the trees.
4. well
we've always used paper towels & plates...I can't imagine our family functioning w/o them...but we've been reusing them...plates 'specially...a pb&j sandwich doesn't make them that dirty...so we'll use the same plate twice, instead of throwing it away after we use it once...my daughters been saying.."I can use this again"...and I like that kind of message
