Wow, look at these gas prices! It's quite telling.
I dug up this photo for a post about airplane overshooting the runway incidents.

This near the Burbank, CA airport involving a Southwest Airlines 737.

All of the prices are less than $2.00 ($1.59, $1.69 and $1.79) if you can't see it.

This was March, 2000.

Another reminder of how much better off the country was before the current idiot in the White House stole the election later that year. :puke:

What a mess now.

1. Yep. On the radio, all the idiot right-wingers - even the idiot morning show on rock station guys
were all screaming because Clinton wouldn't do anything about gas being over 1.50/gal

Now they're all bitching about either Congress or the Saudis or both, because the President doesn't have the power to change gas prices, that's just ridiculous and you'd be a moron to suggest it.

I hate people

9. Saying "Gas prices have more than tripled under Bush" is very effective argument
when you're talking to Bush-Bots about the last 7 years. It gets em every time.

3. Keep gas prices going even higher!!
It's the only way to break the collusion between big oil and the auto makers. They will be forced to improve their mileage standards and seriously search for other sources of fuel.

I do agree that w is total idiot; more importantly, a thief.

16. Aside from the auto makers argument, let's not forget
how the "administration" is sleeping with the Saudis!

6. Thanks for the pic! I searched high and low for this recently.
There was a thread on the Burbank Airport (Bob Hope - BUR), and I wanted to illustrate why, as an airline captain, I hated flying into BUR. Southwest and those passengers and crew were extremely lucky that day. São Paulo comes to mind.

SWA - Burbank

TAM - São Paulo

7. As I recall, the "high" price of oil was brought up by the Chimp during
his debate with Al Gore, and he went on and on about how helpful having oil men in the White House would be for the American people. Now that would be a great clip to show during the upcoming election!

13. "1.86 is unacceptable for a gallon of gasoline * 1999"
"I would release the stategic oil reserves and jawbone OPEC into lowering their prices"

15. Yeah, $1.89 was unacceptable for a gallon of gasoline to Bush and Cheney.
Only now is it being priced the way they and their crooked friends want it to be.

8. In 1996, I could get gas for 85 cents a gallon!
That was in Vt and NH. In MA, it was all of 95 cents, iirc. x(

14. 19th Ave 76 commercial
In SF there is a commercial that is running for 19th Ave 76 that shows gas at $1.75 on the sign in the background.
It must be from around the same time as the picture in the OP.
