Another toy recall...Easy-Bake Oven, Hasbro
New Easy-Bake Oven Recall Following Partial Finger Amputation; Consumers Urged to Return Toy Ovens

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. (To access color photos of the following recalled products, see CPSC’s Web site at www.cpsc.gov.)

Name of Product: Easy-Bake Ovens
Units:About 1 million
Manufacturer:Easy-Bake, a division of Hasbro, Inc., of Pawtucket, R.I.
Hazard:Young children can insert their hands into the oven’s front opening, and get their hands or fingers caught, posing entrapment and burn hazards.
Incidents/Injuries: Since the repair program announced in February, Easy-Bake has received 249 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the oven’s opening, including 77 reports of burns, 16 of which were reported as second and third-degree burns. Easy-Bake also received one report of a serious burn that required partial finger amputation to a 5-year-old girl.

1. When I was a kid and this toy was introduced, you "baked" with the
heat of a 60-watt light bulb and were warned to ALWAYS have an adult present.

2. and my sisters still burned the hell out of their hands
I helped and I BURNT my damn hand. We're all alive but the thing basically BURNS KIDS HANDS! That's the purpose of the toy: burning kids hands. :evilfrown:

4. I didn't have the easy bake oven
but the Creepy Crawler cooker burned my hands and fingers in the same way. No adults were ever present, so we never said a word.

7. It doesn't help when people buy these for 5-year-olds either,
when they are marked for ages 8 and up. And then parents don't supervise their use enough either, especially when there may be younger siblings around.

I'm glad they are recalling them. Too many injuries to little hands. That poor little girl with the partial amputation! :cry:
