Town passes emergency rule to outlaw public nudity {Brattleboro, VT} (AP/CNN)

"People have a reasonable expectation that when they are going out, they're not going to run into any nude people," said board member Dick DeGray, who wrote the ordinance.

The nudists and their fans still get a say in the matter: Next month, Brattleboro will hold a public hearing on whether the ordinance should be made permanent.

The ordinance defines nudity as the showing of genitalia, buttocks or female breasts; a provision allows breast-feeding in public.

Board member Dora Bouboulis, who voted against the ordinance, worried about the precedent it would set.

"I understand a lot of people find it uncomfortable to be faced with someone nude," she said, but added, "We're careful not to legislate morality."

With all due respect to the people of that town; I have no idea what they look like. It just struck me as odd that they'd need an emergency law passed as though they're suddenly being invaded by swarms of nekkid people.

I come from Utah farmer "stock." The idea of some of *my* relatives...oh, heavens, I can't even go there. Fortunately, my family, too stays modestly covered; except during their teen years, of course. Which is a good thing since the winters are mild out here compared to VT.

but I don't think it got above 7 degrees the whole time I was there. Nudity wasn't an option. Apparently summer gets people frisky up there. :)

8. I aked my mom about this, she said it was a small group and nobody

cared to waste their time on this issue. Of course, winter takes care of nudity pretty well.

I know skinny dipping still happens whn its hot and theirs a lake around. Most people are in the country, who hasn't seen two farm animals mating? Not too many people care if your naked or not.
