President Hillary Rodham Clinton |
|
She's about my third or fourth choice but she's a lot more appealing than Guliani, Romney, or Thompson...
I don't think I can take four more years of GOPU misrule...

2. Correction: We can't take four more years of conservative rule |
|
We need someone who's willing to make some tough decisions that may piss off the corporate overlords. I don't think that's Hillary.

3. Have We Ever Had A President That Wasn't Somewhat Beholden To Monied Interests? |
|
And please don't say FDR...
Like Keynes he wanted to temper, corral, and control capitalism he didn't want to destroy it...
Plus, by most indices working folks did better in the 90's than they are doing now...

4. I'm not talking about destroying capitalism |
|
I'm talking about the concerted effort since 1980 (and perhaps 1968) to destroy the middle class and concentrate corporate wealth and power. Clinton was a better President than the Rethugs, but he did his part to keep the process going.
If we don't have a president who can lead from the left, the experience of growing up American is going to change dramatically over the next decade.

Jimmy Carter is the only sitting president to face a strong primary challenge in our lifetime...
And rightly or wrongly, Ted Kennedy challenged him at the behest of the liberal wing of the Democratic party because they felt Carter betrayed them...

6. So you'll vote for Giuliani's Supreme Court choices? |
|
Or Thompson's? Or Romney's? Yeah, that'll get rid of conservative government.
Vote your choice in the primary. In the general, you're a Democrat or you're not.

Scalia, Roberts, Thomas, Kennedy and Ailito are there for decades to come... The best the Dems can do is stem the damage by replacing the older more liberal justices with younger ones...

How does advocating for a progressive nominee translate to voting for Giuliani? Of course Hillary will be a better president than any Rethug, but she'd also be worse than just about any other Dem running.

I would be shocked if "our" candidate wasn't Obama, Clinton, or Edwards... If someone feels differently I respect their right to differ but I would ask that they bookmark this post rather than engage me in some infernal argument about the future...
That being said, those three are light years better than anything the GOPU has to offer...

I think the right wing spin was coloring my negative view of her...
They say there's nothing like an impending execution to focus one's mind , well there's nothing like a GOPU presidential victory to focus one's mind...

13. If she is the nominee, I will support her 100% |
|
I will not, ever, ever, ever do anything that will bring about a Guiliani, McCain, Romney or, God help us, a Fred Dalton Thompson administration. None of those choices is acceptable. Christ, this should be a no-brainer.
Hillary Rodham Clinton isn't perfect. But I will do all I can to elect her if she's the nominee.

I do,however, worry that we're setting the bar awfully low.If all it takes is to be better than this gang than 99% of DU would make a good President. :)

But yeah, I think our candidates are basically decent people who would take this nation in a more humane direction and try to heal the rifts in society intentionally created by the Republicans...
