I Really doubt this is even understood now - |
|
maybe I don't understand it either.
When we were young - it wasn't a question - the United States asked and we went - a lot of us - It is just the way it was - you know??
We didn't have to agree with any politics - not where I came from.
It is strange to me now - but it wasn't then. It is just the way it was.
Admittedly - just a dumb kid from western PA - but there were a lot of dumb kids from western PA or therabouts.
I doubt if you were not from that river valley if you do understand that.
But it is true.

4. One of the few positives I take from humanity is how much less we're willing to tolerate. |
|
Our tolerance for death is much lower than it used to be.There's almost 4,000 dead in Iraq (4,000 too many) and people are pissed. It took so many more deaths in Vietnam before people reached this kind of critical mass.I know it does no good to the people over there now, however.
I so long for the day when people realize that wars are just one group of workers fighting another group of workers for the right to be exploited.

in their flag-draped coffins. That was before the media ALLOWED themselves to be EMBEDDED with the military, answered to the Pentagon and had their work vetted BEFORE they could release it to the public. That was before we had propaganda news networks like FAUX NEWS, spewing the WH LIES. Those days, were the days when truth in journalism actually meant something. Those were the days of Walter Cronkite. REMEMBER THOSE DAYS? I do.:(
on edit: I was worried about you! I haven't seen you post for quite a while. Are you OK, Joe?

I will be more ok in a few weeks, too.
I don't think about the media - not worth my time.
Those kids, however - I think about them - a lot.

I really do.
And I was a hick from rural East Texas.
Still am, just living in different surroundings.
