http://www.tree-nation.com/community/petition.php?id=25I posted this petition on
Tree Nation this past March asking people to pledge to be climate messengers in response to Mr. Gore's important and crucial film An Inconvenient Truth. I set the goal at 1000 and am now only 13 signatures away from that goal! That means that for every 100 signatures Tree Nation has planted a tree in the heart of Niger to mitigate deforestation and poverty. The petition is now at nine trees and I am so hoping by this weekend to make that first 1000 so I can set the next 1000 as the new goal.
And the wonderful thing about this petition is that these signatures are from all over the world. China, Italy, Mexico, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Greece, Spain, Yemen, Canada, the U.S., Italy, Ireland, Norway, South Africa, the U.K., and even Iraq. I am really so filled up reading how much people worldwide really do care about this planet and are willing to pledge to take better care of it in order to sustain it for the future.
So yes, if you would like to sign this petition to help me get to that first 1000 and give the U.S. more representation on this petition and help plant another tree in Niger, please do so. This petition has already been sent on to Mr. Gore in Nashville to alert him to the worldwide support addressing this climate crisis and his work on it have. And I will forward it to him again one I reach the goal.
To me this is what Live Earth was and is all about. Joining together on a global scale as world citizens to work together to hold governments, business, and ourselves accountable to mitigate the effects of a crisis that is now affecting millions of people... and in many cases, people who are not doing the brunt of the damage. This gives me hope that we can make this happen.
