We have been told President Clinton has a very healthy temper.
I, for one, am ready to see it in full force. I can not even imagine how angry he is about the unfair placement of the blame on his wife for their failed policies. I hope to God he does not suppress that anger. All she did was ask for a report and this personal attack is what she got - good grief. Please Bill - stop fishing with 41 and do something about it.

If President Clinton does not respond, when this administration is forced to announce in October or November that they will be starting to bring home or redeploy troops the people will be told we lost the war and they (the WH and the media) will say it is Hillary's (and the other Dems) fault because she/we gave succor to the enemy.

We need for President Clinton to come out swinging. In fact, I wish he would walk to the bottom of the driveway this evening or tomorrow morning (actually I am afraid he is in South Africa) and hold a press conference and take no prisoners. I want him to turn the sky red. The WH has stupidly provided him an opportunity to come center stage and start talking (and leading) this country in an adult conversation and I hope he doesn't squander the opportunity - we need him.

He needs to do this not because they attacked a Senator who happens to be his wife, but because they have attacked the citizens - 70% of us.

I hope that Edwards, Obama, Richardson, etc all speak out about this outrage. It will make them look presidential.

Come on Bill.

4. Hilary is no shrinking violet ---I have heard she can do
some slow burns herself. They are probably figuring out
the best strategy for handling this.

5. I hope it brings Bill out of the closet.
He has been acting like the spouse of a candidate, not a former President. This is an opportunity to help the country and he better take it.

6. He's in a tough spot
I'm sure he doesn't want to be seen as fighting Hillary's battles for her. She needs to take this one on herself.

8. I think this is the one attack that will allow him into the game.

Frankly, I think Rove is probably a little nervous about poking the tiger and concerned this may turn out to be a big mistake. I have a feeling the political hack did this without consulting with the WH political director.

On the other hand, since Pres. Clinton is out of the country Rove may of had a hand in the timing of the letter. I bet KO tried to get Clinton on this evening and I hope Bill does an interview with KO real soon.

7. What is wrong with Hillary?
Did she lose her voice? I would never expect Michelle Obama to come to the defense of Barack. If Hillary is going to run with the big dogs......she needs to get off the porch.

11. The angriest I've seen him was putting the media in their place
but I don't think it makes Hillary look good to have hubby fight her battles.

12. Uh, she definitely needs to do it herself
She cannot have her husband come to her defense on this. John Kerry did on Olbermann, and that's ok. But Bill cannot get anywhere near this. She is not the little lady who needs her man to restore her good name.

It also really doesn't matter how she responds, they're going to blame Iraq on Dems anyway. That script was written 50 years ago.

15. You are afraid that if President Clinton
speaks out for the country it will help Hillary and harm your candidate.

This is not about the election - it is about the Bush administration.

President Clinton, and all other national Dems, need to get in front of this WH effort to blame their failed war on the other party. Failure to do so will not help any candidate for national office who has a D following their name.

19. OMG, that's just stupid
I just praised Kerry for defending her. If this was about anything but standing against the smear machine, why in the world would I have said that?? No woman who wants to be taken seriously can have her husband defend her in business matters. She has to stand on her own. That's just the way it is. Bill Clinton would not help her in this instance. She has to fight her own battles.

17. I just heard Bill Clinton on the radio.
He was just saying that there was no military victory in Iraq.
This is the first time I have heard him discuss the war,
at least in this way. It sounded like he is taking the gloves off.
Maybe he watches Keith (pitbull) Olbermann.
Go big dog, go.

18. She can defend herself, I think, although it would be classy for some
noble fellow Senators to come forward to defend her like Kerry did--D's AND R's--since this is an attack that could apply to the rest of them as well.
