I just saw Patrick Fitzgerald at Millennium Park |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 09:32 PM by girl gone mad
He was recording a segment for NPR's Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!
It was a lot of fun. He got a huge standing ovation when he walked out onto the stage and again when he left. The crowd of 8000+ went wild when the host mentioned his prosecution of Scooter Libby. He didn't say much of anything, but there were a few cute jokes and digs at the administration. He got a child's scooter as a prize at the end with the engraving "This one will stay where you put it."
Were any other DUers there?

1. Too bad I don't live in Chicago. It would have been worth seeing. |

2. Oh, you went to that???? |

Sounded like great fun. I will listen to it on Saturday morning.
I doubt that Fitz could say much about the case, but the child's scooter was a wonderful prop.

for the regular listeners. There was another funny joke regarding the case. I'm not sure if it was a set-up, but it seemed like it may have been.
I just happened to be walking home through the park and decided to stay and watch them record the show. They were doing some good bits about our lack of progress in Iraq. I was pleasantly surprised when Fitzgerald came out.

5. I am certain that there are.... |

Fitzgerald had been touted for some time as tonight's guest. So he was willing...to the point that he could, at least.

Or does this seem like a conflict of interest?
Prosecuting people should be a serious thing. This only seems to demean the situation, and will just give more fuel to the "witch-hunt" crowd. The crowd of 8000 might as well have been carrying pitchforks and shovels.

11. If you've heard him speak on the subject of his job |
|
he doesn't find it funny.
I'm sure the hosts of the show were NOT speaking with him about the Libby case as part of the questions.
>Or does this seem like a conflict of interest?<
Based on what? Then again, I'm sure we can all imagine, can't we?

12. I thought he handled himself very well. |
|
He didn't personally say anything that could be construed as partisan or belittling. He even seemed reluctant to take the scooter.
