republics, reich-wingers and other neo-cons should consider this |
|
bush's power has been accumulated using executive privilege, signing statements and claims of "inherent power" based on precedents
Unless Congress takes steps to reign in the bush/cheney regime - the next president will be able to use the same tactics - block investigations by claiming executive privilege, modify/nullify legislation with signing statements, and basically do anything he/she wants to do through inherent power and the precedents bush/cheney have set
do you really want that kind of uni-lateral authority in the hands of a DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT?

1. You assume there will be elections |
|
and I fear you are sadly mistaken
Tehy have not done all of this to surrender it to Hillary Clinton (their true nightmare)

2. Here's the problem with that logic |
|
One could have said the same thing about Congress, about using the filibuster and so forth.
Dems just are *not* like repukes, and repukes know and count on this. Dems, for whatever reason, tend to still uphold the rule of law, and other princinples.
I sometimes wish they'd resort to the viscious tactics that have been used against them all these years.

the republic party isn't the same republic party is once was - it's been neo-conned
who's to say something similar won't happen to the Democratic party at some future date?
politics evolve, they change - there's no guarantee that policies/philosophies would change for the better
do we really want that kind of power in the hands of ANYONE?
