U.S. Amb: Buying Time with American Lives
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 07:34 AM by NJCher
I heard this story earlier and was so shocked I could hardly speak. The U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, has said that we are buying time for the Iraqi government with American lives. That is what we are doing there--letting our young people die until these so-called government officials get their act together.

I waited to see if the story would be repeated and so far it has not. (This was on ABC). They had another related story with someone commenting on how refreshing it was to hear anything near the truth out of an American official's mouth.

Cher

edited to correct: heard on ABC, not CNN. Later story mentioned in same paragraph was heard on CNN.

3. Stating The Obvious
How sad it is that it's a rare moment of clarity that someone from this regime speaks in the real world, not the bizzaro world of the corporate media.

Be assured those remarks will be withdrawn, respun, re-stated and re-interpreted by "experts" and "officials" throughout the day. The truth can't be allowed to go unchecked. WTF was Crokcer thinking??? One more screw-up like this and he get the middle management Carlisle group job.

Yes, exactly, and that is why I wanted to get it posted on DU as soon as I heard it.

Can you imagine the pain of a parent who has lost a child in that God-forsaken war? And can you imagine the further pain when these "government officials" go on vacation in August?

If I were a parent, I would not be able to contain my rage.

5. There's A Silent Rage
Especially within the military families. Those in the service must remain silent and their families speak out at great risk. Many who have lost loved ones suffer quietly as they still hold on to a slim hope their death's weren't wasted, but questioning "why" gets you tatooed as a "Cindy Sheehan". Many more who suffer with a loved one whose returned without limbs or scrambled brains suffer quietly as their own war has just begun and will last for the rest of their lives. And this is just pain on the surface. I can't fathom the emptiness that goes along with that rage.
