Where is the best place to be right now?
In a city or a rural area?
North or South?
East or West?

6. Know any good deals on ND real estate?
That sounds far enough away from the ocean to avoid hurricanes and the flooding coming from global warming.

8. Gee, no, I'm in New Hampshire. I'm more afraid of the government
than I am of hurricanes or global warming at this point. I'm far enough inland to avoid most hurricanes and close enough to Canada to make a quick exit!

We'll go over together. I have a dog that will lead us right to any source of Canadian Bacon that she's within 20 miles of.

12. I'm in Marlborough, near Keene, southwest corner of the state.
We could also head to Vermont if Bush declares an emergency and won't leave. Vermont will surely become a separate country!

Between you dog and my two, we'll find plenty of bacon!

that's problematic though because theres this little river called the St. Lawrence between us. Vermont sounds great.

34. I have a 30.06 with a scope. Those arms will have some pretty big holes before they get me.
GW ain't coming for me. Neither is big dick. Our long national nightmare will end on 1/20/2009. I'm sure of it. What I'm NOT sure of, is whether or not the next CE will have the balls and the backing of congress to make the turnaround in the face of corporate interests.

That's why I'll never again vote for a career politician.

26. I am close to Canada AND Vermont
I, too, am expecting my Vermont neighbors to do the right thing when Bush decides that he should be putting his fellow Americans into prisons with no habeas corpus. I hope that my NY is smart enough to join them, but with Hillary "who shall not offend anyone," and Chuck-y won't have the balls of Vermonters.

27. Berkshires in Massachusetts

Beautiful, not over populated, & LIBERAL as the day is long. Most blue county in the most blue state in the country!

Lots of culture, arts, theatre, & the most gorgeous scenery.

And, we are the only state which allows gay marriages & it is here to stay! GREAT place to live. Yes, the taxes are a bit high, but it is paid back in social service programs.

28.  I don't know , I am thinking of
Building a hot air balloon even if it's out of trash bags and hitting the skys in search of a safe place . If the fight fails then I won't have anything to worry about anymore .

I seems pretty difficult to move to another country these days , you need lots of money , something I certainly don't have . You need a job and alot of other things .

31. Big Bear Lake, CA. I retired yesterday and am leaving Laguna Beach for there next week.
I bought a 3+2 with a two car garage. Lake view. 6700 feet above sea level, above the smog of L.A. Max temp ever recorded was 94 degrees in 98 and the lowest was -25 in 79.

I can already taste the trout...

So. If you ask me? High in the mountains of the southwest.

40. Just for clarification
This post was purposefully ambiguous by design.
What does "best" mean to you?
When you think of living in a city do you think it is best because of mass transit--ways to save the earth...or worse...a target for terror?
Conversefly because of rural.
North or South because of proximity to Canada and Mexico? East or West because of danger to hurricanes, etc.
It comes down to what makes YOU feel best.
I feel I am in a safe place.
However, it is an economically depressed area with very little opportunity...but I have room for a garden if I desire. But I am so far removed that I spend quite a bit on fuel.
I'm not really sure if I am ready to trade my safe and secure surroundings for mass transit and an opportunity to make more money.
