With all of the recent Executive Orders and red flags I'm sensing that Bush is going to close the deal on a police state soon, I can't help thinking that at some point, DU is going to be suddenly shut down (not the internet, but DU and sites like DU).
Shouldn't we (ALL OF US) be collectively forming a network OFFLINE so that we can operate without this site if needed?
Skinner? Moderators? Is there a way to do this geographically? Confidentially swap contact info with others in our area in an organized way ... not just a few people, but all of us? I would say this should be put into place NOW before it's too late.
Ideas? Should we have one or several people in each state to be keepers of the info and then divide them up into smaller groups. Disconnected from the others. I hate to use the term "cells" but that's what comes to mind.

Do not be naive. Many here are NOT our friends.
don't do it online. Phones aren't especially trustworthy either.

This is something to start thinking about and planning for. Problem is knowing who to trust, but we all probably need to start dealing with the reality that something is coming and we had best not get caught flat-footed.

Better to be safe than sorry. You only need to have a few contacts to call and put you in touch with other safe contacts. You can't go to the media for help that's for sure! You'd have to go to a Bill Moyers or a few trustworthy souls. Stephen Colbert? Naw, they'll be disappeared!
