MP: "S.O.S." for Vulnerable Falluja Civilians
City "Looks Like Guantanamo" after Two Months of Siege, Deputy Tells Slogger

After nearly two months of a harsh security crackdown, the city of Falluja is facing an urgent humanitarian crisis, according to a member of the Iraqi parliament.

Referring to his remarks as an “S.O.S.,” MP Taha al-Luhaybi has told IraqSlogger that the siege of Falluja, which began May 21, has intensified in the last two weeks and is leading to serious humanitarian repercussions.

...

“Falluja looks like Guantanamo Prison,” al-Luhaybi said.

The curfew hits those with sensitive health issues the hardest, the MP said. Those who are most in need of medical care cannot make the long walk either to the hospital or to the designated minibus depot, and travel to a hospital is impossible during certain hours.

Even pregnant women in labor are forced to deliver at home, al-Luhaybi said, adding, “The health situation in the city is very bad".

1. I saw McCain at midnight Senate discussion talking about how Falluja and
Anbar are just great now. How Iraqi police are in charge of Falluja. What a jerk.

4. Why are these well-dressed, well-fed Repuglicans hell bent on continuing
this outrage against these innocent people whose land was invaded by * order?

Every day the Congress is in session they walk leisurely around the House and Senate floor dressed well and neatly coiffed chatting among themselves. They display no urgency to get anything done of any consequence. They are completely oblivious to the conditions our troops and the Iraqi people are suffering this summer in 130 degree heat.

How long are they going to stand with * and thumb their noses to the American public and the world?
