JetBlue caves to right-wing pressure
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/07/20/jetblue-still-a-sponsor/

JetBlue caves to right-wing pressure.

After being subjected to a smear campaign by Fox News host Bill O’Reilly for its in-kind donation to the upcoming YearlyKos convention, JetBlue has asked the YearlyKos organizers to remove its name from the convention’s website. O’Reilly celebrated the move on his show last night. Watch it at link~

According to Kos diarist Pontificator, “Last night, a representative of JetBlue told us that we could keep their logo on the frontpage of the YearlyKos website, so long as we made it clear that it was an ‘in-kind’ donation. They told us we could announce that fact. Today, they went back on their word. The representative from JetBlue says the CEO ordered him to tell us to remove the logo.” The JetBlue logo is no longer on the YearlyKos home page.

9. Now that I have your attention about boycotts.
The right wing likes to boycott for stupid nonsubstantial things. My boycott actually will accomplish something like needed legislation and to end this war in Iraq.

Send this letter to the GOP. Tell 2 friends to send it, and have their friends send it and so on.

Copy and paste the letter below and email it directly to info@gop.com the Republican Party and get many others to send this letter. Thank you. Drop me a message to info@dmocrats.org with the subject Done after you have sent the email.

Hello

Get your Republican party to end the war by Dec. 2007 with Bush and Cheney resigning, and until you do we stop buying televisions, refrigerators, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, dvd players, stereo equipment, light bulbs from one of your party's major contributors and War contractors General Electric Corporation ( 203 373 2211 ) who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

Get your Republican party to enact HR 676 Single payer universal health care into law by Dec. 2007 and repeal Medicare Part D and place the prescription drug benefit in Medicare Part B covering 80 percent of all medication with no extra premiums, no extra deductibles,
no means tests, no coverage gaps, and remove the means test for Medicare Part B and until you do, we will not buy consumer products and prescription drugs from the biggest 3 pharmacy chains and GOP contributors in the country Eckerd, CVS, and Walgreens and we will not buy health insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, the 2 biggest health insurance companies that give money to the GOP as well, who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

Get your Republican party to enact a $10 an hour minimum wage by Dec. 2007, and until you do, we will not go to the following restaurants and GOP contributors Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Dominos Pizza who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

Get your Republican party to enact into law Universal vote by mail with paper ballots counted by civil servants with civil servants registering voters and keeping track of registrations by Dec. 2007, and until you do, we will not buy any GOP contributor Dell computers or monitors or go to the following restaurants and GOP contributors Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Dominos Pizza who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

4. Jetblue does NOT cave in--per Kos, himself
Psst, Bill? JetBlue ain't going nowhere

Up early thanks to a 4.2-scale earthquake centered in Oakland (shook things up quite a bit), and back to work after my vacation, it's kind of fun to mark my return with a Nelson-style "Ha ha" directed at Bill O'Reilly and his flunky Michelle Malkin, who yesterday celebrated the withdrawal of JetBlue from the ranks of the YearlyKos sponsors.

In short, that dynamic duo triumphantly claimed that O'Reilly -- the most powerful man in the universe in his own mind -- forced airline carrier JetBlue to pull its sponsorship of the YearlyKos conference.

But go to the YearlyKos convention website, and you'll note the JetBlue logo is still there, on the home page. And I've confirmed that yes, indeed, JetBlue isn't going anywhere. They don't plan on caving to pressure from the neanderthals at Fox News.

Remember, this fight is about Fox News' hurt feelings. They wanted Democrats to legitimize their propaganda operation and we squashed those efforts like a bug. This is their way of lashing back, yet no one seems to give a shit. The Dodd and Hillary campaigns used the opportunity to slam Bill O'Reilly and his usual band of misfits. And despite their premature crowing, JetBlue -- the chief target of their ire -- isn't going anywhere.

And it shouldn't. At some point in the future, JetBlue will be able to sponsor GOPAC or some other such wingnut conference, and that'll be fine. We want to encourage such sponsorships of political events, and the way corporations can innoculate themselves from such b.s. partisan attacks is to be bipartisan in their sponsorships, something that JetBlue has promised to do.....

14. Nope, logo's gone. Wimps.
And stupid. There's more of us than there are of O'Reilly's nitwits.

From the YearlyKos site:

We are disappointed that JetBlue pulled their logo, but only because our experiences teach us that backing down from O'Reilly only makes things worse. We thank them for the tickets and look forward to seeing everyone next week in Chicago.

6. Thom Hartmann just pointed out that JetBlue has been advertising on Fox News
for some time, and this "O'Loofah jihad" may cause them to consider pulling their ads now! I wonder how much Rupert Murdoch will enjoy losing a major advertiser due to one of his little flunky's foam-at-the-mouth idiocy!!

11. You know that the rabid right burned up their keyboards and cell phones
emailing and calling JetBlue threatening a boycott.

Virgin America airline started selling tickets today. I hear prices are as good as JetBlue, and Virgin offers more features.

12. At least, they didn't ask for their money back
Hartmann just wondered if they'll reconsider their advertising with Faux Snooze, too. This could bite Orally in the butt.

13. Everybody used to rave about JetBlue
But I always found better deals cruising the Internets, sometimes at a fraction of the price JetBlue was asking for a ticket.

Boycotting them will be no hardship.
