So ... is it safe to assume that they're not leaving?
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 12:46 PM by BattyDem
:scared:

BushCo would NEVER make this kind of a power grab if they thought there was even the slightest possibility of a Democrat being elected in 2008. Even if they were impeached tomorrow, what's to stop them from saying, "Congress has no authority to impeach." They've ignored every law and pissed on every word of the Constitution, so why would they acknowledge impeachment?

This is bad ... this is REALLY bad! :scared: :scared: :scared:

On edit: If you haven't heard the news and have no idea what I'm talking about, read this:

steps of the Capitol Building and The Mall.

Anyone from Texas interested in going, let me know with a PM. I'm investigating the possibility of organizing a group trip to the September 15 march.

6. Their new claim is that ...
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 01:23 PM by BattyDem
Congress has no power to enforce subpoenas, bring contempt charges, etc. In other words, they can do whatever they want and Congress has no right to conduct oversight at all.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/19/AR2007071902625.html?hpid=topnews

From the article:
Mark J. Rozell, a professor of public policy at George Mason University who has written a book on executive-privilege issues, called the administration's stance "astonishing."

"That's a breathtakingly broad view of the president's role in this system of separation of powers," Rozell said. "What this statement is saying is the president's claim of executive privilege trumps all."

14. They've said it many times
But you're right ... no one cares. The most frustrating part about it: when you try to tell people what's happening, they look at you like you're crazy. :-(

5. Yeah, it's past the point of no return!
Lose power and they might end up in jail. I use "might" after considering the majority of our current crop of Dems and their lack of either backbone or balls!
