You'd think Randi and John would be polar stylistic opposites, but his appearances on her show have always impressed me as bringing out the best in both.

Paul Craig Roberts www.counterpunch.org Topic: Conservative Paul Craig Roberts is here saying - unless congress immediately impeaches Bush and Cheney - a year from now the US could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran.


Roberts was emphatic (and persuasive) in his belief that the ship has sailed.

His analysis was based on history - that whenever a president has been highly unpopular, 80% of those disapproving voted against his party - even in local elections. That comes to something like 56% anti-pug vote everywhere - at a minimum.

His point was that the pugs know this as well as he - the data are public knowledge. The only explanation for bushco's continuing disdain for public opinion and the pug senator's continuing lockstep support is they know it is not going to matter

He said they are hoping for another 9/11; that if it does not come they will make it happen. He read his prediction of bush's speech - (paraphrasing now): " my fellow Americans, we told you this would happen. But you did not listen to your government. You let those democrats tie my hands...'

He said we must impeach NOW.

I don't know that that would make any difference. It would just accelerate their plans.
