Have you ever called into CSPAN? |
|
Washington Journal? I called in yesterday for the first time. They were talking about the Al Qeada NIE. I called in and mentioned that they pump up these NIEs to support the huge defense budget. That they jack up estimates and that this had all been done before at the behest of Bush the senior when he was DCI. I mentioned that they had formed a group called "Team B" and that their findings had later been found to be ill-prepared. I was a bit nervous, first time caller and all. Anybody else? What did you talk about?

18. I have watched CSPAN for 28 years and I have called into Washington Journal many times. |
|
Washington Journal appears the finest town meeting that I have ever watched and called into.
We need a cspan brigade so that DU members can get a message to the public when needed.

2. Hello Messiah2012 and Welcome |
|
I've never called in because I'd probably be cut off post haste. I have to get into a very mellow mood to write a LTTE which somewhat diminishes any point I might be addressing. I also say fuck alot so I don't call anyone up that has a live mike.

9. Great comment - Questions |
|
I have not called in but have wondered - how long do you wait on hold? Do they ask what you are going to say before you are on air.

12. I just kept hitting redial. |
|
The screener comes on and she asks what your political affiliation is, where you are calling from and generally what kind of comment you are going to say. Then she, in this case, told me to turn down the TV volume and that when you hear your city that will be you. You are put on hold but you can hear Washington Journal through the telephone with about a five second delay. I think they have some kind of unwritten rule about calling in because I was watching today and Brian Lamb cut some lady off when he realized who she was, he said something about her violating the "30 day rule". I don't know.

13. they do not screen calls |
|
you call, you get put on hold, then you're on.
I called in 2001 to say that I hoped that Laura Bush was treated with the same kind of respect that the press and opposition had shown to Hillary Clinton during her husband's administration.

This was around 1990 or so. I understand he wrote in his book that he DID play tennis with them.
