My congressman says impeachment is a "moot point"
I just attended a Rotary meeting where my Republican congressman was the speaker. During the Q & A, I asked him this question. "If at some point you were to believe that a majority of your constituents favored impeaching Bush, Cheney or both, and knowing that their guilt or innocence would ultimately be determined in the Senate, would you vote for impeachment?" His response was that he did not have enough evidence to answer he question and that because Nancy Pelosi says impeachment is off the table, my question was a moot point.

His answer tells me that we do not have representatives in congress who carry our will to Washington. Even when they know how we want them to vote, they believe that it is their job to decide for us based upon what is best for their political futures. So much for my grade school civics class notion of a representative democracy.

What was encouraging was that in a very conservative group, he got no softball questions. Some of the questions reflected a surprisingly angry sentiment among a group that is largely Republican in its make-up.

6. It's Greg Walden of Oregon
What's really remarkable is that his opening remarks about our disastrous conduct of the war in Iraq made the case for impeachment very eloquently.

7. I thought that we constituents were best for their political futures!
What do they think is going to happen--they're going to get voted out?
