The Far Right plot against the Sierra Club and the Environmental Movement

Today, for the Right Wing Infopedia, I did a little work on the Social Contract Press. The SCP is listed as a hate group for their promotion of "The Camp of the Saints", a racist diatribe.

Anyway, as I read up on the SCP and it's publisher, John Tanton, I found out that he tried to push environmental groups, such as the Sierra Club, into the immigration debate.

He and his allies were obsessive about it, they were ready to sue the Sierra Club to force them to focus on immigration, they also pushed the Club to the edge, it was about to collapse.

What really went on during the 90's?

Did Tanton and friends notice that the Sierra Club could have fallen apart?

Did they not care if it did?
