Evangelicals who once worshiped w now think he SUX. Get Over It already.

Long the driving force behind Republican success, many Christian conservatives are disappointed over the GOP's failure to deliver on issues they care about and divided over the candidates and moral agenda that will animate them.

For that and other reasons, the conservative Christian movement faces a moment of political decision. Its ultimate champion, George W. Bush, is in the final stage of his presidency. The candidates to replace him have received a lackluster reaction from voters such as Mr. Brookshire. Democrats are starting to claim the mantle of faith in a different way. And many conservative evangelicals are beginning to question the movement's political priorities and focus instead on issues from the environment to terrorism.

Mr. Scarborough and fellow Christian leaders Richard Land of the Southern Baptists and James Dobson of Focus on the Family insist that abortion and gay marriage must remain staples of the political culture war.

But surveys indicate that younger evangelicals are not as moved by the old "wedge issues" of homosexuality and government-sanctioned prayer.

----------------------------------------

Even cnn did a report yesterday on how young evangelicals are particularly disenchanted with bush, but they aren't exactly sure which of the ten repub candidates most reflects their complicated 'values'.

I am the type of guy who wishes he could grab each and every 30 million of the former bush cultists who now hate him and scream "I fucking told you so but all you did was cover your ears and speak in tongues dumbshit", but hey, that's just me, I suppose I should be grateful that they've wised up. (?)

You just can't make some people happy. They don't think their former Christian soldier hero president is faithful enough, pious enough, or Spanish Inquisitiony enough. He didn't really give them what they wanted, which was the public burning of all homosexual witches and abortion providers and abortion seeking witches.

They were so looking forward to declaring all out holy war against all Muslims on Earth and torturing them all to death, (except those who convert to Christianity).

I guess they thought he was going to make the nation a theocracy in Jesus' name and they are deeply disappointed, I guess they thought w was going to hasten the end times and all of us sinners and non believer liberals would finally receive our just, eternal sufferings that they could watch from on high at the right hand of the Lord, laughing and sipping mint juleps with Jesus.

My how the mighty w has fallen in their eyes! What the HELL does the man have to do to please these evangelical voters? Nail his own ass to a cross?

1. If we can just get 30% of their votes next year, we win
That's all it would take.

If Giuliani is the nominee many of them will stay home, and many of them will not vote for Romney the Mormon if he is the nominee--most will, but a good chunk won't.

3. 40% of them voted for fake born again dubya.
They are a powerful voting block, but they don't ask much, only that the candidate drop His holy name occasionally and at least fake being born again.

I was certain in 2000 Bush and Rove had fooled the hell out of all the rubes with his born again BS when he would not answer the follow up question to his famous "Jesus the philosopher" reply.
It's not ironic how evangelicals always get fooled by the mostly sacrilegious of born-again phonys, it's more like birds of a feather flock together.

8. Yeah, all those other lies don't count.
But they can't really do anything about dubya, cause the Lord will ultimately forgive him.

6. Suckers
This Just In: Even if the GOP had the Oval, all nine SCOTUS seats and 535 congressional chairs, plus maybe also a throne in Heaven on the holy lap of God...

...the GOP will never ever ever ever ever ban choice or overthrow Roe.

Why?

Because the base votes the way bugs hit windshields, i.e. with their brains in their asses and every single time.

But moreso, because the GOP can put a picture of a fetus next to a picture of Hillary on a direct mail fundraiser, send fifty thousand of them out, and get back (seriously) eight digits in campaign money.

Last I heard, the GOP leadership was in this thing pretty much for the money. Think they'll ban Roe and give up the river of cash vaccumed up from between couch cushions in every Red state living room?

Yah. Hold your breath. I'll wait.

Meanwhile, GOP base, keep trooping along. Go hate an immigrant, protest against killing a dead woman, enslave your own daughters, worship a psychotic bastardized blue-eyed Jesus, and generally keep on being the useful idiot shock troops your leaders depend on you to be. Go find a windshield. The Constitution you destroy was once your own, but you didn't want it, because it failed to list the name of the to-be-Raptureds, nor did it quote the Apocalypse of St. John (which was, by the way, code written about the Roman empire, but keep waiting, and maybe take a real Bible study class...you'll love what Constantine did with Christmas)

Grr.

11. damn them! bush is doing a good job...
i waached 'half nelson' last eve and the teacher guy was saying that although the gov admitted there were no wmd's in iraq still 70 percent of respondents thought wmd's had been found! - his personal self destruction made perfect sense in the context of global aapthy.... personally, that rubicon river was crossed in 1980, when ronald reagan was elected....every slow witted fool i meet nowdays luudly proclaims 'support the troops' and blaams the unions for political correctness run amok, and it's obvious they reflect a global investment in stupidity- listen to any rightwing taak show and the saam nonsense is spouted by these insanely well spoken well fed well educated wealthy white guys with clear articulaat locution; archie bunker but in pinstripes and costly cologne. Bush represents them. Bush is destroying the very thing these rightwingnutz claim they fight for. And MAYBE that's good(?)
now where's that dope? come to daady
