We have exactly a year and a half until this shit is over. Six and a half years done.

And I'm pretty sure it will be over, too.

1. I can't find a thread to post this.
Remember --- when the black representative from one of the southern states, Cynthia McKInney slapped at a policeman at the entrance to the HOuse of representatives when he grabbed her. And she later apologized, said she did not know he was a policeman at first. Remember how for five months especially leading up to the election the press told the story over and over and over til most of us could tell it vertabum.....I have not heard one word about the REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN Christopher Shays who had a violent verbal confrontation with a policeman, first because he would not take a telephone call. Second because he would not let a group of people from Shays district enter thru a door that was not to be used. I have heard nothing. Absolutely nothing.....

For the life of me I can't understand why. Since McKinney was stopped and it was ALERT ALERT ALERT McKinney was trying to break National Security by going thru a door without showing ID> Oh by the way she was a democrat.

Now we have a REPUBLICAN congressman who is deliberately causing a distributable because he can't enter a door locked for security reasons. Not a disturbance by accident like McKInney but deliberate..but nothing on the news. Oh yes yes yes he was a republican and of course they are about the law. We all knew that.

2. It's not over if they destroy the system.
The time to act to save the republic is now.

5. My husband shares this view,
but the year and a half thing just depresses me. Six and a half days would depress me. Bush is watching his perceived legacy go down the toilet, and I believe he is going to try a hell of a stunt in the next 18 months to try to redeem it. But even if I'm wrong, and he just lays low, the horror of the last six and a half years will never be over for some. All of the war dead are,of course, forever dead. The wounded, their families - both American and Iraqi - are forever changed. It will take years, perhaps decades for our country to undo the damage that the Bush administration has wrought.
