Operation Yellow Elephant turns a bipartisan trunk toward the hawkish Young Democrats of America
Edited on Sat Jul-21-07 09:41 AM by IanDB1
The Young Democrats of America are convening this weekend at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Dallas, Texas to celebrate their 75th anniversary.

Looking at Iraq:

Since the Young Democrats are the future leaders of what they hope will be Our Nation's governing party, it is certainly proper to ask them what, exactly, they intend to do to ensure that Our Nation, and Our Allies, will be safe under a Democratic Administration.

Colin Powell was right: Remember the Pottery Barn Rule: You Break It, You Own It. Iraq is our problem and our responsibility and that won't change with the new Administration, regardless of party.

Looking Beyond Iraq:

Of course, concerned citizens who visit the convention to encourage the Young Democrats eligible to serve to Be A Man! Enlist!, should be prepared to engage in robust, uninhibited debate. But it would help Our Nation if they focused on the present and the future, rather than the past.

3. One can be a hawkish Democrat and still be a Democrat
completely depending on the situation. For example, FDR could be a hawkish Democrat as he rightfully should have been a hawk.

6. I see what you are saying. I guess I just think of hawkish as meaning wanting unncessary wars.

9. If the war is just, we need to be hawkish
Since Lieberman left the party, I know of no Democrat that supports unjust much less unnecessary war.

I once saw a pack of hawks take down 3 donkeys. It was a horrible swarm of feathers, beaks, blood and donkey flesh."

5. All it means is that they're not pacifists.
I'm not a pacifist, though I'm against the war in Iraq.
