Mark Foley, Alberto Gonzalez and Rep. Bob “I’ll pay you to
blow you” Allen ruin young Floridian’s lives.

I have been reluctant to post this because of the “nail their nuts to a stump and light the woods on fire” posts here regarding “sexual predators.” But here goes:

Mark “is it hard yet?” Foley was an original sponsor of the “Adam Walsh Child Protection Act” which, among other things, provided millions of dollars for “I can’t remember” Gonzalez to establish “task forces” for internet crimes involving children. Some of this money found its way to Florida where “Operation Eviction” was run by law enforcement between 1/1/07 and 5/31/07. One of the operation’s tactics was to have law enforcement officers impersonate young adult women on places like My Space and then later state that they had lied and were underage teens with family and personal problems. Rupert Murdoch apparently lent an assist here by letting cops violate the rules of My Space regarding false age postings. The undercover officers then would flatter the people who contacted them on instant messaging services and in e-mails and phone conversations. These “teens” allowed the conversations to turn to the topic of sex. Meetings then were arranged at “undisclosed locations” which included public parks. One hundred and twenty-seven arrests resulted from these stings.

In the county I reside in there were ten arrests, two men in their fifties (one was an administrator at a Catholic high school), a man in his thirties and seven young men in their twenties. These young men are now facing prison sentences in excess of two years under a draconian sentencing guideline backed by Bob Allen, the fellatiorious family values state representative, sex offender registration for a minimum of 25 years and other penalties. They’ve lost jobs and have been kicked out of the schools they were attending. Most of these gullible young men went from initial internet contact with the undercover cop to arrest in a matter of two or three days.

To me this is entrapment and “virtue testing.” The hypocrisy of the people who instigated the whole program to obtain political cover while continuing their own deviant, unconstitutional and/or illegal conduct is appalling. These young men were contacting a person they may have believed to be underage, but who was far closer in age to them than the wives and mistresses of many prominent and powerful politicians are to their husbands or paramours. These young men have committed thought crimes that harmed no one. If you think about robbing a bank, even to the point of walking into the lobby to case the place, no crime has been committed, but thinking about romancing a minor a few years younger than you might be in Florida at your PC can get you sent to prison (unless you are a Congressman.)

I have little sympathy for an adult in his fifties who tries to do a fifteen year-old of either sex, but to totally ruin a young person’s life for something that happened on the internet in an undercover sting over a few days doesn’t sit well with me. I should mention that the only situation I could find where an actual child was seduced over the internet in Florida involved a 15 year-old girl and a registered sex offender in his fifties who met her in a “Christian chat room.” Figures.

So what say you DU? Is this bullshit or protection of vulnerable young and horny internet users? If you were on a jury would you help Alberto out and vote to convict so that he can claim to be “protecting children” while he guts the Constitution and whores out the Justice Department? In answering, remember that these young men don’t have half a million dollars in campaign contributions to spend paying lawyers, like the guy who did this crime with an actual Congressional page and got away with it.

I'll be away a few hours, but will be interested to see what's here when I get back.

1. milk him $$ dry before he hangs

I have not found Bob Allens' pic yet.

I generally concur with your perspective about those young men who were ENTRAPPED. Phishing or is it fishing for legally EASY convictions when serious crimes are being committed shows a serious waste of legal resources.

2. Well, the very first thing that occurs to me

IS why you would post an admittedly provocative post such as this when you knew you would be gone "for a few hours" and not available to interact?

Beyond that, I hate hypocrisy in terms of how we enforce this and many laws... We go for the easy targets, rather than what may be the worst offenders, if those individuals have money and power.

6. a) because I was afraid the grammar police would point out that
"fellatiorious" wasn't a word (I needed something to replace "c****sucker.")

b) I didn't want to get into it with anyone should any of the "castrate 'em" folks post a reply.

4. Shades of the DATELINE entrapment show. I hated that program the first time I saw it.
Don't get me wrong. I loathe the predators that prey on children. I've seen the damage that is caused not only to the child but to the child's extended family when a predator stalks.

But, if the meeting is set up with an adult, even though the supposed predator believes he is meeting a minor, there is no crime committed; no minor child was involved.

I do think that information gained could be used to watch the supposed predator, or to issue a warning to supposed predator to watch, but no criminal charges should be made.

7. The Center For Missing And Exploited Children Board Of Directors
thread from October 1, 2006 deserves a review today, as does hypocrisy and denial and many other issues

9. I don't know if the composition has changed, and researching some
of the others not profiled in the thread takes us down some very dark roads. Share it with others.
