There’s still hope to have Cheney impeached and more in Congress are listening.

It’s time — ImpeachForPeace.org is heading to Washington DC to meet with Representatives! On Thursday, July 26th, we’ll be presenting reps with thousands of petitions formally initiating the impeachment of Vice President Richard Cheney.

ImpeachForPeace.org members along with David Swanson of After Downing Street will meet with Rep. Maxine Waters and the offices of Rep. Adam Schiff, Rep. Robert Wexler, and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and other representatives as they are available. These House Reps are part of the Judiciary Committee, which currently has a resolution (House Resolution 333) to impeach Vice President Cheney. We’ll be presenting the petitions and urging these representatives to support impeachment on behalf of the majority of Americans who have indicated that they support the impeachment of Vice President Cheney.

“Do-It-Yourself” Impeachment Petitions are described under the House Rules, Jefferson’s Manual Section LIII. They constitute a legal means of initiating the impeachment process, and were successfully used in 1830 to impeach Federal Judge James Peck. This method is the only means by which an individual citizen can legally initiate the impeachment of a federal official. While only one such citizen’s petition is necessary to begin the process, thousands of these are to be delivered on Friday.

it was months ago and ever since then I have wondered what happened to them. So they will finally be delivered? Awesome.

2. Here We Go, Folks...

This is how the wheels of the impeachment wheels need to start turning. Yes, I've posted against purusing impeachment...primarily due to the lack of the votes to convict in the Senate, but also on the base that there were no underlying criminal charges that had been brought to write the articles. Now we're seeing those winds change. And I'm very very very glad to see it!!!!

Yes, these criminals need to be impeached and I'll continue to say that I want a total justice here...not just two figureheads with a political wrist slap...I want all who've deliberately worked to ruin this country to be held accountable. The latest tactics of envoking such a broad definition of Executive Privilidge along with on-going signing statements and a Repugnican obstructionist Senate makes it necessary to move on other ways to force this regime into some degree of sanity...if not to defang it altogether.

The next critical step is to force Inherent Contempt!! I see this as the real next step for the Judiciary and kpete's report indicates that's where Conyer's is set to roll. The issue has to be forced...and this will provide the materials on which the articles will be written. If anything, these articles can provide another hammer to force the inevitable showdown with the Executive on powers and eventually crack open lots of crimes.

The push needs now to be to get the Judiciary to vote out Inherent Contempt citations on Bolton and Meiers...then to get the full House to vote it out as well and force this regime's hand.
