Josh Levy

<snip>

"Four years or so we followed a losing strategy," said Josh Levy. "The new strategy corrects that error. The new strategy is not the surge; that's part of the tactics in the new strategy, but the new strategy is a fundamentally new approach to the problem-it puts the military solution first."

Then he posed the question: "Why not give them a chance to succeed?"

But Sheehan says that chance has come too late at too high a price: "Congress has to put conditions and timelines and everything on the bills, the money they're sending George Bush or don't send him any more money. There's plenty of money to bring the troops home right now."

Levy says right now isn't the right time to do so.

He asks, "What will we do if Al Qaeda establishes a new haven in Iraq? Will we go back in at that point?"

"We shouldn't have to re-fight this. We can do it now. Destroy Al Qaeda and allow the Iraqis to have a certain measure of peace and stability so they can move forward," insisted Levy.

:crazy:

3. Martinez (R-FL) is feeling it too.
This bush-enabler is going to pay a price for his ass-kissing.
From today's Orlando Sentinel:

Iraq, immigration and slow fundraising make times tough for the GOP senator and RNC chair.

WASHINGTON - These are tough times for Mel Martinez.

In the past month, the Republican U.S. senator from Orlando has seen the collapse of an immigration-reform bill he helped craft. As chairman of the Republican National Committee, he has struggled to defend an unpopular president and an increasingly unpopular war, even as party fundraising lags.

And now a new Quinnipiac University poll shows him plunging to new lows in his home state. Indeed, more Florida voters -- 38 percent -- said they disapproved of Martinez's performance than the 36 percent who said they approved of it.

I wish I was kidding, it seems mission creep has crept from WMDs in 2002 to "we need another month to assess exactly how successful we are" in 2007.
