Christian Action League President Charged with Participating in Prostitution

Christian Action League president, Coy Privttee was arrested Thursday, July 19 on six counts of aiding and abetting prostitution. Privttee was released on the promise that he would appear in court, August 22.
At a press conference in Raleigh late Thursday, Rev. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League, gave the following statement and then fielded questions from the press:
It is with tremendous sadness that the Christian Action League has learned that it’s President, Coy Privttee was arrested today at his home in Kannapolis and charged with six counts of aiding and abetting prostitution.
As Executive Director of the Christian Action League, I know that I speak for all of the members of the Board of Directors and its trustees when I say that we are shocked and dismayed at these allegations. We have attempted to contact Mr. Privttee and hear his explanation of the matter, but we have been unable to reach him.
Because we have been unable to speak with Mr. Privttee** and because we are committed to the principle of due process, the Board of Directors has decided that under the circumstances, the Christian Action League immediately suspends Mr. Privttee’s duties as President of the Christian Action League and his membership of the Board of Directors, pending the outcome of this matter. Rev. David Hansley of Kinston, N.C., and currently Vice President of the Christian Action League, will assume the reins as President.
Our hearts are deeply burdened by this news. We are praying for Mr. Privttee, his family, and all those that this situation affects.
In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, Creech said: “We have a responsibility to reserve judgment, but it’s also important to preserve the integrity of this organization.”
Creech says that a situation of this nature always poses problems for an organization like the Christian Action League, but he does not believe that it will hinder its work with legislators. “Legislators know better than anyone that one man doesn’t represent the whole body.”
Creech said he fully trusts that its supporters understand that nothing of this nature has ever happened in the long history of the ministry. "The Christian Action League has been an organization of considerable integrity with a positive record for honest, effective, and good moral leadership,” he said. “We remain undaunting in our commitment to that principle.”
