Bring it on. I look forward to a Constitutional crisis. The process and the publicity |
|
are good for the health of the federal government. It's an exercise that may well benefit all branches, either in the short term or the long term. The issues of executive privilege, Congressional oversight, and Constitutional law - the basic relationships between the executive, the legislative and judicial arms of government - need to be tested and reviewed.
It's implied in the Constitutional goal to a balance of power.
Bringing it to a head, as drawn out as that may entail, is just what the founding fathers had in mind.

I think you'd have to go back to McCarthy to get to the start of this whole mess.

of the issue. The administration is forced to look like power hungry dictatorship seeking assholes with no regard for the very fabric of our constitution in their defense.
Biggest terrifying reality is that even having that said, an entirely new constitutional interpretation could arise in which we'll all be fucked. But let's hope we win this puppy.
But I'm definitely eager for the fight. We've known for years now things would come to a head, and it appears the days are soon upon us.

11. Long overdue. We've actually been in a Constitutional crisis for six and a half years. |
|
It's well past time to stop accommodating and appeasing the anti-democratic parasites that have infiltrated and subverting the institutions of American democracy.
They circumvented the intent of the founders to rob Gore of the presidency, then they set about circumventing the entire ideal of checks and balances that the founders designed to prevent the arrogation of power to one person or group.
It is time for them to go.

13. It's hard to have a Constitutional Crisis when the media ignores it. |
|
I am so sick of people I know that haven't a clue about what is going on. When you try to enlighten them, they get a glazed over look, like I don't want to know, or as my sister said, "I just don't care".
Until the media joins us, nothing will happen. Do you realize all that they have ignored? They sure as hell don't ignore anything they can to make progressives look bad. The media has to talk about this.
I was in Washington DC for the 2004 election. When I got home 2 days later, there was a virtual lock out of news about the election. I could barely get any news on cable.
I call my Democratic representatives, and tell them what I think about:
inherent contempt executive orders Iraq civil rights abuses voting machines Iran contractors missing money
I'm sure you could add to the list-we need more media besides Olbermann and Stewart and Colbert, Bill Maher.
