42. What I remember is she was one of the first people to publicly
embrace gay men living with HIV/AIDS, and continued to work with AIDS hospice's after she lost everything.

Can't say the same for Falwell. Have some compassion for those who made mistakes, BIG ones, but lived the rest of their lives atoning for those sins.

Hey, I'm the guy who posts about 20 stories a day about "Black Collar Crime" and even I love and forgive Tammy Faye.

Go ahead and do an advanced DU author search on me using key word "church."

If I can cheer for Tammy Faye, then everyone can.

(If you're lazy, just check this thread where I summarize what the Baptists have been doing, just this month alone)

35. "EMERGENCY LETTER"!!! He was truly the devil behind the scams.
http://www.jimbakkershow.com/EmergencyLetter.htm

June 24, 2007
Dear Friend,

Victory is almost here and the devil is trying to steal it away from us.

We are on the brink of our miracle.

We have had problems with several of our love gifts and have not been able to get them out to hundreds of our wonderful partners. People stop giving when they don’t receive their promised gifts. This along with the normal summer drop in giving has caused us to get behind on our payments to the television stations that carry our program.

Some stations have already canceled our program and our accountant has just told me that unless we have a miracle we will lose many other stations in the next few days.

I need your help today! If you can help us with this desperate need I will deeply appreciate it.

I am asking you to plant the best seed you can today with our ministry without me sending you a gift back – Give your offering while standing on the Word of God in 2 Corinthians chapter 9:6-8, “Remember this: The person who plants a little will have a small harvest, but the person who plants a lot will have a big harvest… God loves the person who gives happily. And God can give you more blessings than you need. Then you will always have plenty of everything - enough to give to every good work.”

Will you help us stay on the air and go back on in some of the cities where we are no longer on the air?

If you want to use a credit or debit card you can call 1-(888) 715-5664 or click the "Make Donation" link below. The need is desperate and I cannot thank you enough for your help.

I love you!

Jim Bakker

Give your best gift of love with a donation to our ministry.

If there were a god, Mel Gibson would be dead, and The Crocodile Hunter would be alive.

SC, he STILL had quite a few followers who kept supporting him! I lived in SC at the time and I was shocked that so many people coudn't see him for what he was!

I haven't heard a word about him in years, and when I heard Tammy died, I couldn't help thinking about what happened to Jim. So now I know. Shame on the people in MO!

Tammy Faye went out of her way to atone for everything that happened during the PTL years. I have nothing but respect for her and the way she lived her post-PTL life, and frankly, I'm sorry that she's gone.

I'm sure she enchants the angels as we speak.

24. I came to really love the woman while watching her on "The Surreal Life"
Tammy Faye, Ron Jeremy, Charo, Eric Estrada...

Tammy was a real sport about the whole thing.

The best part was when they surprised Tammy faye by taking her to a lesbian club of some sort to sign copies of her book.

That was when I first realized how truly wonderful she really was.

And then I saw the documentary about her ("The Eyes of Tammy Faye") and I was just floored.

Maybe, if we slathered Pat Robertson with make-up... Nahhhh.

Tammy Faye was one of a kind.

She was so nonjudgemental. When she told the people in the audience to (I'm paraphrasing heavily) love themselves and accept themselves and ignore those who judge them, I was impressed. She seemed like a very kind woman. Even Ron Jeremy was respectful to her!

66. Tammy Faye's message to her fans
From LKL on Thurs. night:

Asked if she had a message for her fans, she replied: "I'd like to say that I genuinely love you, and I genuinely care, and I genuinely want to see you in heaven some day. I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy."

I wish the same to you, Tammy Faye. :grouphug:

84. Tammy Faye... I'm sure that more than one soul was waiting for you to welcome you
home and let you know that you actually lived your life the way that we, as believer are SUPPOSED TO LIVE!

I'm happy to know that you're out of pain and that messed up body. Enjoy that burger and fries with all the ketchup you can handle.

If you run into my mom and MIL, I'm sure that they'll welcome you with hearty hugs and words of greeting..

Goodbye for now, TammyFaye and may the folks who call themselves "Christian" learn from your example and not just

talking big smack whenever it suits their purposes.

92. Why is she so good?....
I must have missed something with
Jim and Tammy, who my grandma gave some of her dying money to in the 80s

I guess she was repentant and that is what counts for christians
Never liked holy rollers myself or women with gobs of makeup.

Don't get me wrong, just give me some links to give me why
I should nominate this mother Teresa of tele-vandalism.
I watch their show and I thought it was criminal

You stuck with your man who epitomized so much of what I see is wrong with this country. I can grieve for your family but not for how you kept silent in regards to so many christian conservatives and their goals which have been achieved through this administration.

111. RIP TAMMY FAYE.............
I SEND MY KINDEST REGARDS TO HER FAMILY..AND I WISH YOU GOD SPEED TAMMY FAYE...

MAY THE WINGS OF ANGELS MAKE YOUR AFTERLIFE PEACEFUL..AND EMBRACE YOU ..

...AND MAY HER HEART BE HEALED..SHE HAS HAD A TOUGH ROAD TO TRAVEL..I HOPE SHE HAS FOUND THE DESTINATION SHE NEEDS TO FINALLY FIND PEACE.

MANY WOMEN ARE DRAGGED ALONG..WITH NO CONTROL OVER WHAT IS SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL IN THEIR LIVES..

TAMMY FACED IT HEAD ON..AND NEVER HID FROM HER MISTAKES..

THAT TAKES A BIGGER PERSON THAN MOST OF US ARE CAPABLE OF.

I DID NOT LIKE WHAT SHE AND JIM DID ....BUT I UNDERSTAND MISTAKES..AND I BELIEVE TAMMY FACED HER MISTAKES..

AND I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER WISH ANYONE TO SUFFER AS SHE DID ..IN SOOOO MANY WAYS..BUT IN HER FINAL YEARS WITH A HORRIBLE CANCER..NO ONE DESERVES THAT..AND I PRAY TO GOD WE SOMEDAY HAVE A CURE, THAT NO ONE HAS TO GO THROUGH THE PAIN TAMMY DID AND SO MANY HUMAN BEINGS DO, WITH THAT AWFUL DAMN DISEASE.

I DO SINCERELY WISH HER PEACE ..AND I WISH SHE HAS A SEAT NEXT TO HER GOD...

SO SHE HEALS IN PEACE , IN HER AFTERLIFE.

REST IN PEACE TAMMY FAYE....

REST IN PEACE...........

119. Nothing to blush at :)
They think that flowers are a waste since the departed cannot enjoy them, and prefer to use the money for some other kind of memorial. Also the stones signify that those left behind are "never done building the memorial" to the person.
