After reading this...I need a drink:
WASHINGTON - Fast-food waitress Fawn Townsend of Raleigh, N.C., knows exactly what she is going to do if her salary goes up with Tuesday’s increase in the federal minimum wage: start saving for a car so she can find a second job to make ends meet.

start saving for a car so she can find a second job to make ends meet.

Wow...just...wow...

6. “Being a single person, you can’t pay all your bills with one minimum wage job.”
Well, she'll have to get a second and a third job, then. According to Bush that's "uniquely American."

10. It was in Omaha and he said it was "..uniquely American..."
Later, the 57-year old Mornin tells Bush that she works three jobs, which the president deems "uniquely American" and "fantastic." He asks her if she gets any sleep.

Which just goes to show you just how they think us peons should have to live.

He's disgusting.

9. More from the same article:
“When you go into the grocery story now, you may be checking your own groceries, you may be bagging your own groceries,” said Jill Jenkins, chief economist for the Employment Policies Institute. “All of these things are because of mandated wage hikes. When you have to pay more, employers begin to find other options to keep costs down.”

I'm sorry...but can one not already do this at wal-mart and many other retail locations anyway...or did they impliment these devices to teach us (read: mice on a wheel) to ring up and bag our own pruchases...b/c after all that pesky minimum wage thing is just too much for the worlds largest company to pay...

11. Customer service or
lower level employee benefits get pinched and used as the excuse to "keep costs down" when in reality its the CEO's with their Golden Parachutes, bonuses, and outrageously high salary's that are driving up costs. Their greedy multi million salaries are acceptable but god forbid that some minimum wage employee get a raise that likely will buy little more than a tank of gas a month.

13. IF Raising Minimum Wage = Fewer Job
why not eliminate the minimum wage all together? Just think of how much prices would go down at stores and restaurants if employers didn't have to go through the annoying inconvience of things like minimum wage. Why not eliminate other irksome regulations like many of the OSHA requirements and Worker's Compensation. Why, we won't even have to put the groceries in our cart 'cos there will be people to do that for us. Of course, the people might be a little tired from working four jobs and sleeping on park benches, but what the hey...
