1. That is the saddest thing I have ever seen.
May she rest in peace and may her family
find some comfort in their time of loss.
When she said she was worried about her
children because she knew how the loss
would affect them, well hell, I cried.
I don't care what peple think of her-
she was a mom and as a mom, I can relate.
I know my daughter would be lost without me,
as I would be without my mom.

3. I normally say nice and supportive things when someone dies...

but not here.. NOT AT ALL

She perverted christianity and contrived to steal money from ignorant people. The world is better off without people like her. Too bad she wont meet her "maker".

8. Are you without fault?
Have you never caused harm to another?
To speak ill of some one who died a painful death is wrong.
Period.

9. Not true.
"The evil men do lives after them. The good is oft interred with their bones." She doesn't make saint because she died in pain like so many Americans. She doesn't get to have the details of her life concealed because she weighed...what?...45 pounds?...when she died.

You can dispute whether she honestly earned so pained and drawn out a death, but you have no right to embargo the discussion. No one has.

11. Oh for heaven's sake- she was a human being.
Show me one human free of fault.
I am disgusted by the callous comments about her passing.
Maybe WE didn't love her, but somewhere, someone did.
At the very least, can we not have respect for those in mourning?

If not, then we are no better than the people we abhor; ie the
dumbfuckistans of America.
Such ugliness over the death of a person has no place among enlightened people.

21. Grave-dancing is a particularly ugly DU tradition.
Sometimes this place is a mirror image of Freak Republic. Like you, I don't come here much anymore, because the world itself is ugly and hateful enough--no need to seek out more negativity.

There's a better thread on this topic in LBN--you might want to check it out.

40. Well then, let's stop criticizing Bush and Cheney too.
They are the victims here. Can we not forgive them? What's all this talk of impeachment?

By your splinter/log "logic", nobody has the right to criticize anyone else. This will certainly cut down the message traffic on DU!

14. God,what a cold and heartless thing to say.
I watched her last interview Thursday on Larry King and cried the whole hour. She is a HUMAN BEING and suffered so much with her cancer. You know what? I can expect to read shit like your post on FR site, but when I read it here it makes me even sicker.I can't understand what the fuck is wrong with people in this country anymore.People are so hard,so unfeeling like a freakin rock or something.

We are not supposed to judge, but I'd be willing to bet my life savings that lady is in Heaven right now praying for people like you. You should be ashamed of yourself, but makeing those kinds of statements you have no shame.

RIP Tammy. Not all of us are heartless freaks.

17. You know,I've been crying for the past two days.
Yesterday a friend of mine came and stayed the day and last night with us. She had never seen Fahrenhite 911 and I cried so hard I thought I was going to bust even though I had seen it before. She was left numb by it. I am sickened beyond belief as to how people are these days. Give me the 60's 70's and 80's back. I hate this era.

26. There are times on DU when...
it is just better to speak the truth and move along.
I think this is one of those times.
Personally, I find that dwelling on the apathy/hate/lack of compassion
exhibited by some of our fellow citizens just makes it harder for me to sleep.

Our government and the True Believers who support them is all the
distress I need. Can't take it from other DUers.
To much like visiting the hate threads on FR.

No difference in my mind, which by way of logic, makes
me all the more hopeless for our future-

There is something truly disturbing about conversing
with people who are can not see the similarities in themselves
with those they proclaim to oppose.
Peace.

It's best to ignore them. You have said everything I feel myself. I'm glad to have ran into you.My heart aches for those who suffer and die horrible deaths and I don't care WHO they are.Tammy seemed like a true Christian lady to me. I have no doubt she is with the Lord right now. It's not too often I think someone is not a phoney "Christian fundie". I don't believe Tammy was.

29. Doesn't matter if she was or was not- fact is...
Edited on Sat Jul-21-07 11:38 PM by BeHereNow
She was a fellow human being and like all who pass deserves
compassion and empathy for her suffering.
I could understand some of the behaviours and posts
concerning her death if they were on some rabid RW board,
but not here on DU.
I think much more of DUers than some of what I have
read over recent months in response to certain people's passing.
In many cases, no respect for those mourning the loss
what so ever.
In my mind, that makes us no better that the
people we claim to be different from, which if you think about it,
is all the more reason to have no hope, where our collective demise
is concerned.
So much for a difference between the "left" and "right"
when one can not discern the difference on the Hate-o-meter.

30. She was part of a church in my area -- she was a not-too-bright good-hearted woman
She was taken advantage of by a sociopath. She redeemed herself many times over
in later years.

We ALL make mistakes. Even you. Not everyone makes up for theirs.

41. And I'm sure you're a pure saint, and have never fucked up enough to ask forgiveness for it...
:eyes:
I think Tammy Faye changed. I watched her on The Surreal Life, and she was delightful.
Why are you judging? I'm sure you've at some point in your life done something you were a little embarrassed about, something you regretted. And I'm sure you had to ask forgiveness from someone for it...and I'm sure at some point in your life someone has had to forgive you. And if that is true, then you're being hypocritical.
People do stupid shit in their life and I believe she tried after that whole thing to change the way she lived her life. You have no idea what she went through, so maybe until you know the WHOLE story about her, you'll let a suffering woman who was in pain rest in peace.
