America will only see universal health-care when we, as a people, are able to see, and strike at, the ubiquitous, corporate control of our society, media, and government.
That is a moot question to me. While you may work for or love certain corporate presences in your lives, they all legally represent a power much greater than you, me, or We The People. They are now the power and force that molds and shapes our society to the point where it is no longer as transparent as it once was. And yet, we continue to present polls such as these that only signal a rather benign ignorance of the facts in plain sight.
Corporate mono-culture has become the be-all and end-all of the results we now experience, and will experience for ages to come, possibly. It embodies a collectively controlled Borg-like, hive mentality that, while extremely effective and functional, is also short-sited as to long-term impacts and effects. For instance, those who work within the corporate matrix are most likely unable to see just how controlling and stifling, and even environmentally threatening, the results of such a broad-reaching control-oriented paradigm might be. We tend to leave that aspect of the equation to our speculative science-fiction and relegate any dissent to the forbidden fringes of paranoia and the Newspeak definition of conspiracy theories. Yes, there is a place to put everything and only lunatic fanatics entertain conspiracies even though history and our present time are rife with them from bottom to top. Yes, the control of language via media works so well that there is now a landfill for opposition that many reasonable people can not only support, but they can hold it sacred as a trash container for opposition to the electronically induced status quo.
Universal health-care will come from a recognition of Universal ideas and recognitions that manifest in a forum of free and independent thinking, not subject primarily to the bottom-line of investors and boardrooms that scheme and connive to extract the most that any parasite can hope to, from its host without killing it. When profit trumps people and results, then what would you expect from that kind of formula no matter how rampant it is in our accepted ideas of a society and normalcy? Don't you see that, if what I have related sounds out of sync with what you know or believe, then either my words are insubstantial or they represent a certifiable flaw in the matrix that is imposed on your beliefs and subsequent view of reality.
If we could all stop projecting our own ideals and values out out upon corporations we could make some major strides here. If we could all stop thinking about the people who work for those corporations as individuals with consciences that could ever make a difference when the bottom-line demands that they play a complacent part in the agenda of profit and nothing more, then we could get somewhere for each and every member of the society that is effected by the game being played.
To be a part of corporate mono-culture, you literally have to sell you soul. You might be able to get away with thinking it is not sold if you have the proper position to do so, but then, the salesmen sell the salesmen, as any salesmen will tell you.
When the game is finally seen for what it is and the motives behind it are inexorably seen for what they are, then, and only then, will we be able to move from an implied greater good to a real one that can be experienced and verified by the end recipients. It is only about the end results in that case, and not the bottom-line that almost tyrannically dictates the experiences we now have. Our frustrating experiences have a cause and a source. The cause and the source, simply put, is that profit is not only justified and sacred in our society, but we are obliged to ignore that the price we are all motivated to pay is the dividend of that profit. We lose, and somebody else gains. That is the science of suffering and loss along this trajectory. Somebody has to pay along the way, do they not? We are paying and wondering why it is so, and yet, it is all there before our eyes when we look outside the matrix of the propaganda of all-prevailing media long enough to connect all the dots that shine like blinding stars around us.
