A call too close for comfort
http://www.suntimes.com/news/quicktakes/477784,CST-NWS-qt22.article

News Item: "Hours before he was scheduled to die by lethal injection, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles on Monday granted a stay of execution to a man. . ."

. . . named Troy A. Davis, who was convicted of murder without any murder weapon or physical evidence. . .

. . . but with instead the testimony of nine witnesses. . .

. . . seven of whom have since recanted their testimony, saying they were heavily pressured to testify against Davis. . .

. . . while other witnesses have come forward, saying they saw another person do it. . .

. . . the other person being one of the two witnesses against Davis who hasn't recanted, and who can't be located at the moment. . . .

The matter will be sorted out now, one way or the other, in what may have been a very close call.

All this seems to have slipped the attention of prodeathpenalty.com, by the way.

1. Precisely why I am against the death penalty

Not only is it illogical and barbaric to take life to show that taking life is wrong, but there are so many cases where the person on death row is wrongly convicted. You cannot un-execute a person when they're found to be innocent. You can, however, release them from their life sentence.

2. to a certain extent its probably a worry of many people, being charged and convicted for a crime
they didn't do, I know it is to me. I am against the death penality except in rare extreme cases like treason which can be proven without a doubt. there is a difference between proven and convicted too
