All I can say is Watch out World if we somehow wind up with a decent democratic President |
|
in Jan. of '09. If we all can keep our heads above water and about us under these dire times then there's just no telling what we can do, individually as well as a group, toward making this a much better world for all its inhabitants. Thinking back to the War in Vietnam days and I remember there were many people coming together for the betterment of the world. Many things were accomplished besides just ending the war in Vietnam but the War was the impetus for many to get off their duffs in the first place and do something and since they were up and doing something already, a lets get this shit right here fixed too while we're at it type attitude prevailed. If we survive these next few months we will have one hell of a future to look forward too and one thing about it there is no direction from here except up, they'll be no reason for confusion.

to better themselves and that in turn helped to better the country. This attitude of this is me and if you don't like it is fine but sometimes seeking to become better than what we are at our most basic can do wonders for our society. Not to mention joining up with other people to help those that need it. I am not meaning to sound elitist about this but when did learning and curiosity become so disdained?
I hope we can get a decent President but it is looking very difficult to do that right now by my personal standards. I worry that the corporate offices will be much happier than we are.

3. I think there is many more like so many of us here who will do things |
|
in accordance with what is right rather than what is expedient. I have dropped my requirement in my thinking of what I want in a President to the one the majority decides on. I have my preferences but it won't kill me if someone else, Dem, is elected, if they are elected by an honest election that is. If there is one thing I have learned from the w* crew and that is no one person or for that matter a small group of people knows whats best for us as a whole, majority rules. A well informed populace will make good decisions I believe

4. Thats definitely why we have to keep the pressure on our press |
|
that we are interested in those stories even though they don't want us to know about them, we find out anyway and it leaves them with egg on their faces. Not just the same white blonde kidnap victim of two weeks ago over and over and over.

5. What scares me is going through the 70s again |
|
I remember the early 1970s after the war began winding down and ended. Overall, that period sucked. Inflation, caused by war spending, deteriorating infrastructure, high taxes, oil embargos crumbling cities -- all these I think in retrospect were caused by the war.
I suspect even when these criminals leave DC, we are going to have a 70s redux.
