Margaret Spellings, Bush Confidante And Heartbreaker
Margaret Spellings, Bush confidante and heartbreaker

Washington Post
July 22, 2007, 2:47PM

WASHINGTON — Poor Margaret Spellings! The secretary of education was ready to talk student loans and No Child Left Behind when interviewed by Washington Post editors and reporters last week. So maybe she was taken aback when asked why she turned down Karl Rove when he asked her out in the early '80s. (Rove later joked it took his ego "decades to recover.")

Spellings paused, then said: "Have you met Karl Rove? "He was so inept and so inartful," she added. "I mean, I couldn't even understand."

A reporter brought up Rove to change the subject after a journalist inadvertently made Spellings cry. When asked to describe a side of President Bush the public doesn't know, the secretary started telling an old story about how then-Gov. Bush consoled a Texas official who had broken down while eulogizing a colleague. "Oh, I'm going to cry just telling you the story," she said, removing her glasses and dabbing her eyes with a napkin. "Y'all, I can't believe you did this to me!"

She left the interview still a little weepy and mulling the potential impact of crying in front of the press. "Now you'll take sympathy on me," she said. "Maybe."

*** - Sniff, sniff.... Sure is strange how he didn't get all teary-eyed and consoling when Karla Faye Tucker begged for clemency. So I'm not impressed with Bush's empathetic abilities. And frankly I'm also surprised that she turned down Rove. He would've been a big catch....

Another * admin example of placing a bushbot in a position to thwart progress.

8. Now that you mention it....
...you can see that faraway, sort of psychopathic look in her eyes just like cousin *. And it also explains why she did so poorly on Jeopardy....

9. I didn't know she was related to *....
...so apparently its in her genes to be a poor excuse for human being. At least I haven't seen a Bush/Pierce yet that I'd walk across the street to spit on if they were on fire...

14. Maybe I should email this article to Conan O'Brian...
...where he does those "What If They Had Children" scenarios.

Of course his rating would tank right after that I'm sure...

19. Both of their eyes are closed....
...so I guess its either that, or just plain ol' ineptitude as to why they didn't hit the lips square-on. Of course with anyone else it'd be gross to be kissing your cousin like that. But with *, incestuous lip-locking seems like a natural progression.

At least he didn't put his tongue down her mouth. Did he?
