3. Oh, they're scared of us alright .... |
|
... that's why you see all of this creepy stuff like the patriot act, Rex-84 camps, and the new executive order threatening detention of people who 'interfere' with the mission in Iraq. They fear us, and they know they have to stay on top of us with constant threats.

7. I totally agree with your post Rainscents! |

 Corporations are the new masters, government exists to serve them, while government also exists to serve the people it's more often than not as an entree.

5. I think the argument that the government should fear its people is a little off. |
|
I agree that the government should be concerned about the thoughts and opinions of the people they govern, lest they be targeted for removal through elections. Implying that one side should fear the other, however, creates an inherent distrust for those we have put our faith in to lead us.
Right now, I don't trust my government as far as I could throw them. I don't fear them, because they haven't given me significant cause (YET) to be afraid of their actions. I'm very worried about some of the things they're doing and allowing to happen in this country, but I'm not afraid yet.
The main reason for this thought is that this sort of fear breeds violence. Violence is not a productive solution to political problems. At least, not until the problems become so severe that there is no peaceful, democratic way to solve them. When the point comes that the government causes us to fear for our lives, THEN they should be very, VERY afraid of us.
Just my two cents... Though with the way American currency is declining, I'd be lucky to get one Euro for my two cents.

Wait a second?!?!....
One day, we will rue the day when our "saving the children" allows the government to act with impunity toward us.
