Even my friend Eileen's husband is having second thoughts about George W. B*sh. And if you knew him, you would know how astonishing that is.
Her husband is an Amway-peddling, O'Reilly-quoting repug jerk. Eileen's a repug too, but we go back a long way, so we avoid talking about politics. I cannot fathom why they persist in swallowing the repug party line, particularly when the husband is self-employed and their health insurance costs a fortune. But it seems like the most ardent supporters of the repugs are the people who are brainwashed into voting against their own self-interest.
I was visiting my former home state of NJ last week, and stopped to see Eileen for a couple of hours. I decided to ask if, in light of everything that was happening, they still totally supported B*sh.
She confessed that she, and even her husband, were having a lot of second thoughts.
If these two have changed their minds, then perhaps the tide has seriously started to turn. Because these two are among the die-hard 26% that up until now have continued to support him in the polls.
In light of all the frustration and potential Constitutional crises we're facing, I now feel a tiny bit more hopeful about B*sh's eroding support.

1. What concerns me is he doesn't NEED their support or anyone's anymore. |

The 'emergency powers' he has declared for himself, the complete powerlessness of Congress, and the mantra of "activist judges" that has tainted the judiciary... is there any doubt he has all the pieces in place to rule without anybody's "approval"?

They're probably not Evangelical Christians if they're starting to have doubts.
