Excuse me but, this is an EMERGENCY.
Are we not in an emergency situation as a society and a nation? Seriously, this ain't hyperbole, this is the real deal, we are in an emergency, a crisis, a truly fucked up situation, I wish we could get the word out to the average Joe, I don't think he knows it yet.

This ain't business as usual, this is a full blown catastrophe in real time, 75% of the citizenry doesn't even realize it, the rest are too afraid to say it aloud, as if in a temporary frozen panic. This is an emergency of the gravest nature. bush and the neo cons have dragged us all into chaos and have proven again and again that they are desperate, maniacal men with no regard for our welfare whatsoever.

Is this not an emergency or have 6 and 1/2 years of this shit finally driven me to chronic hallucinations? Cause if this ISN'T an emergency, please tell me so I don't keep embarrassing myself.

2. Unfortunately, you're exactly right and I wish I knew exactly what to do
Here's what I think is a recent similar thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1406628

I couldn't tell from the thread you started a few minutes ago whether you were serious or just making fun of the posts you'd seen around here where others have been talking about it. So now I can see that you're absolutely serious.

4. I'm just wondering how to get ready...when I don't even know what
exactly it is I'm getting ready for. Most of my metaphysical teachings
have been saying that a trememdous amount of incredibly light and energy have entered our realm and there's going to be a mass awakening. Those of us who already have the knowledge we have through our own initiative are already, at least on some level, in an awake state - but so many others have had absolutely no idea....

17. Getting Ready Shopping List:

1) Store atleast 1 month per person Fresh Drinking Water (its the one thing you can't live without)
2) Store atleast 1 month per person non-perishable food (its the 2nd thing you can't live without)
3) Have a valid passport for every member of your family (if you need to leave the country).
3) Have cash on hand (atleast $500 or more if you can) - Have Gold currency too if you can. (ATMs can stop working, so having cash available is key. If currency is not valid any longer or inflates, Gold is gold. Also helps if you need to pay your way out of a situation or the country.)
4) If you aren't opposed to gun ownership and know how to use it and properly store, have a gun at home for protection (in the event of riots)
5)If you have investments, get conservative.
6) If you can, move money out of the country and open up an account elsewhere.

In addition to those things, build up your network of contacts and always have an emergency plan. Have "key words" that if you need to contact someone, they know your in trouble without you having to state it. Got relatives in other countries? Talk to them about it too. Think about where you would want to go if you had too. If leaving the country isn't an option, if you are living in a city or near a city but own land in the countryside away from a major city, think about it as a retreat if you need it. If you don't have this, think of friends or family who do.

Meanwhile, keep aware at all times of what is going on and pay attention....

PS: This is just a short list...there is much more, but its all I can type for now...

5. That all depends ...
on which appearances you have been sleeping with on your binges, I guess!

We could go hyperbole-bowling and slug down a few sarcasms on the beach while we discuss the glut of emergencies that are unfolding around our intoxicated noggins.

We could print-up a poster of dire threats and stick them on a dartboard. That would be a fun and creative way to deal with our current transition from sort-of-stable to skiing down the slippery slope on a chaos cycle.

Oh, the list to hit with our pointy, darts of sarcastic, drunken glee would be a grand catharsis. We could shoot and laugh while Romearica burns! Peak oil? Twenty points! Constitutional Crisis? Thirty points! False-flag to Martial law? Fifty big ones for that! Global warming? Sixty points! Follow that with a natural occurrence and you halve your score. Follow it with an "our fault" and you double it. If you hit the bulls-eye of the end of civilization as we know it, that's one-hundred points and a bout of roshambo with your opponent.

It is a good idea to invest in the new game of Crisis Darts! It is going to be bigger than Texas Hold'em.

Now I need something from you. Some links etc to rub some noses in. I've been out most of the weekend and haven't had a chance to find every evil trick those * boobs are up to. If you have a chance can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Your estimate of 75% is off though. It is more like 90%.

16. Have all the Blackberrys gone down?
NO? Has Starbucks run out of coffee? NO? Are there plenty of Harry Potter books on the shelves? YES? Are the credit card companies still handing out cards like candy? YES?

Then, no, it's not an emergency.

Wow. It's like every hour there's someone on this board waking up to our awful situation and they just can't believe it is as bad as they think. It is. Actually, worse, but if I push it any further this post will get removed.

If Congress doesn't act, they will have allowed themselves to have been permanently weakened. Congress' role of oversight will be a joke.

22. Right you are. And it's an impressive but sad achievement for these
criminals that they have hidden this from most of the public. They've used spin, deception, polarization, misinformation, fake news, fake news outlets, fake reporters, corporate money, fear, etc to keep the spotlight elsewhere other than the mountain of misdeeds and the depth of emergency we're in.

And, amazingly, the bricks and mortar of the emergency -- loss of civil rights and reduction of public power and unitary executive -- are things the right wing and their base would normally find objectionable. How they managed this is incredible.
