Harry Reid on calling liars, like Bush, what they are: Liars
from AMERICAblog: http://www.americablog.com/2007/07/harry-reid-on-calling-liars-like-bush.html

The Washington press corps just can't believe that Harry Reid called Bush a "liar." Reid is still getting questioned about it. Yesterday, on Face the Nation, Reid explained his rationale: (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/R/REIDS_RHETORIC?SITE=1010WINS&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT)

"When I have dealings with people, and they tell me one thing and do something else, they're not telling the truth, what else do you have to call them? I am a person who calls things the way I see them," Reid said Sunday.

Now, that's not very complicated, but the media can't grasp it. Bush lies to them regularly -- and they report what he says anyway. The Bush team knows the media won't call them liars. It's just not done. So, Bush and his crew have lied without repercussions for years.

Fortunately, Harry Reid doesn't hold back. A lie is a lie -- especially if it comes from George Bush. Most of the media doesn't get that, but more and more Americans do.

1. Why was Sanchez reprimanded for calling Shrub a liar in the
House sub-committee but Harry seems to get away with it here?

I happen to agree that BOTH of them are simply telling the truth about Shrub, but is that just house rule?

2. It wasn't Sanchez, it was Mel Watt
And according to the House rules you are not allowed to refer to "personalities" :eyes:
That's one rule that ought to be changed

4. Yes it was Watt but I heard Lorettta was also reprimanded because
as Committee Chair, she ignored the actions of Watt and the complaint of the Pubs.

3. So when journalists are under someone's thumb and being censored etc.,
they may not be able to say things like "The preznit is a liar" in public or on-air.

What they do instead, is fawn all over the guy who DID say it, and ask him to elaborate, and pretend not to get it so that it's repeated over and again,

*for the benefit of the people. *

It's not them saying it, it's this newsworthy guy with 1st amendment rights.

Sneaky way to get the message across, huh?

So I'm not critical of this. I think it's cool in a Pravda-ish sort of way. Probably burns the heck out of whoever censors this station. Has Fox News interviewed him yet?

hehehe

5. "The President lied." "The President is a liar."
Big difference between the two sentences.

6. The press corps had no problem calling Clinton a liar and perjurer
over and over and over again because he denied having sexual relations with that woman. They need to apply some of that indignant outrage they had no shortage of for someone who actually lies daily on matters of much greater import than his private life.
