Poll question: does the morality attached to the financial transactions of individuals apply to corporations?
or is there a double standard?

are people IN GENERAL more willing to call an individual who declares bankruptcy a deadbeat than a company that restructures its debt and fires a bunch of people to make a merger more palatable to an investor?

1. A subsidiary question is should there be a difference
I mean if a dude owes me money and I decide to be cool and forgive him his debt, that's generally seen as a generous thing to do. On the other hand a corporation who consistently followed that policy would have some problems. The same morality would produce a state of either injustice (forgiving some debts while requiring others to be paid off) or would bankrupt the company by never actually charging for your products (which, actually, would also be unjust).

2. Corporations do not play by the same rules as individuals.
The corporate "person" is privileged in comparison to the natural person in many ways. They are not subject to the same bankruptcy laws, criminal laws, or much of anything else.

That is the way it IS, not the way it should be.
